Been riding a BMW 2004 K1200LT since 2004 when I bought it new. Been riding Enduros previous 23 years. Bike handled great and easily maneuvered through twisties. Enjoyed it for 60,000 miles. Truth be told though it was a fun ride surrounded in tupperware. Could not even see the engine. Wife loved it and thought everyone loved it as people would always come over to check it out. I did not want this attention and told her peoples interest was more curiosity then admiration. I myself thought it looked like some futuristic spacecraft and hardly like a motorcycle. Personally I had been looking at other bikes during our travels for the last three years. I wanted away from the curiosity of the BMW and something more resembling a motorcycle. Things required were comfortable two up riding, heated seats (passenger), and a quality sound system. Victory, Gold Wing, and the new BMW K1600 GTL were more affordable options. Victory was out as it resembled my tupperware BMW. Gold Wings have never appealed to me and its handling incomparable to the Beamer. Rented the BMW K1600 GTL this past October and put 1200 miles on it travelling up and down the Pacific Coast Hwy in California. Great ride for me, but not comfortable at all for my wife. My wife has never been a Harley fan. She thought they were all obnoxiously loud. Tried to explain to hear the feel and pride of the tradition. To no avail.... "Too Loud!". Explain the benefit of "Loud Pipes Save Lives". Not having any of it. Well I convince her to at least check them out. We walk into the dealer and first bike through the door is a 2015 CVO Limited Palladium Silver and Typhoon Maroon sitting on the floor. "I like that one its
pretty" she says. Good start. She also enjoyed the facts that every stop we made there were not Bikes like our BMW. Explain to her the CVO's are limited production which appeals to her. Her approval, and the uniqueness of the CVO brand and styling, I bit the bullet and bought it. Up North here in the cold I take delivery with 2 miles on it. Was able to squeeze in 70 miles that first day in 48 degree fahrenheit weather. Next day six inches of snow and 12 straight days below freezing. Sucks!! Riding season over till Spring and wont have a chance to see if handling differences will consume me with regrets. First 70 miles though I resembled the Joker with a large smile on my face
