Locked on Chuck,

the little cardboard ring surrounding all hi intensity lighting is there for a purpose, to prevent the natural oils from your skin from contacting the glass.  Touch the glass and the bulb will burn out in less than a month more or less, depending on your driving/riding habits.   :(

quote:  something I take a bit seriously since I paid a lot of money for the bike I wanted

Let's break that statement down, if I may:

Few people who love our bikes realize how expensive it can really get.  For instance 07's $24,995 + fees + 5 yr extended warranty + any additional upgrades at the point of sale.  My agreement was $30,506 delivered, but stroked a ck for $30K and they took it.  Since that exchange I have replaced  the tires once a yr due to an avg of 7,500 annual mileage and service @ 5K intervals.  Average maintenance has been @ $1000 (including tires), not to mention gas, insurance. Then again you have those special little tweaks that satisfy those expensive urges, in my case a couple more grand.  And I have kept my bike basically stock in appearance.  Total that all up and that $25K is closely headed to $40K and my bike was $2k less than yours.  Should we talk about the riding leathers and gear ? that will set you back a couple more grand  :o   na !

Saw your bike in Gettysburg a couple of years ago when it first came available, hard to watch what you're doing and gawk at that awesome pkg.  Gettysburg has it's own reputation, but few realize it's just a half an hour or so from York where they are assembled.  On the same road that rolls thru Gettysburg borough headed east on Rt 30.  One of the best rides I have ever experienced, Rt 30 from Breezewood, PA to Gettysburg. (God help me, I can't stop now !)  A few reading this have taken parts of this ride to experience 'Mountain House', a biker bar on top of the world.  Rode in with 6 bikes, to see only 4 bikes parked out side.  Before we got off our bikes, 30 came in from the east, followed by 40 or so from the west, and another 25 or 30 backing up those coming in from the east.  Essentially, 4 bikes parked out side, within 2-3 minutes @ 100 bikes had assembled at 'Mountain House'.  We literally ran into the bar to get ahead of the flow.  :givemebeer: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6:  :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6:

Added treat just for us, and those behind us, in PA the personal plate's available have only 5 characters, #'s or letters. FXSTSSE, well Hell, that was easy to figure out !.......Jack      :worthless:

PS  Yes, I know, two of those S's are upside down, prisoner at the press, must not have been a biker !  :nixweiss:

Just discovered what appears to be a robbery goin' on in the parking lot in the above pic.

Look in the enlarged pic at the guy in the F/F helmet above the Springer on the left looking back !

There is another guy (Biker) in a black vest near the white SUV several yards back in full stride going after him !

Must be an unemployed H-D worker pickin' up some extra change !    :rifle:

needs to be said again  :soapbox:

any (stock) bike in the 110 -96 ci range with less than 10k miles does not have the full torque coming out at the rear wheel.

Example, when you shift to 6th gear @ 3000 rpms on level ground, your bike will be almost over geared.  6th gear is almost
useless below 65 mph, and in most places you will be over the speed limit.

A broke-in bike more than 10k, more likely 15k, will pull (torque) @ 2000 rpm's up a slope, quite a difference.  This is what
H-D meant with the trademark  "CruiseDrive" transmission.

There is a whole other world out there once you get the miles to it.  My bike was the exception as it took 20k to bring out
all the torque, as I changed oil @ 2500 mi intervals with Amsoil........J

Just got back from Sturgis, put on 2,250 miles in 8 days of riding, for a total of ~8,500 miles ; No problems, bike ran perfic every day, including in 105 degree temperatures through the Nevada desert on the ride out from San Diego  :bananarock:

I am new to CVO's but I was a bit surprised by the generally low mileage that people are posting.  I tend to ride about 22,000-25,000 miles a year.  Is that going to be more of a problem with future CVO trade in then it was with "normal" bikes?

 :beatdeadhorse: Monolyth,

I would think that depreciation would be about the same percentage wise.  20% of $25K=$5000, 20% of $16K=$3200.
"Generally low mileage that people are posting", you're out there man.  That's more than most drive their cars even
when they don't have a bike !
