Last week at a stop sign I saw a bike with extended bags that had a scuff guard (for lack of a better description) on the bags.  It went from front to back and was not just something on the bottom.  It was a piece that roller over the outboard bottom edge.  So it was something that covered the outer lip as if to keep the bag from getting scuffed up on its outside edge if you ever laid the bike down.

Since crash guards don't completely protect the extended bags this seemed like a good idea.  Have looked online and can't find the parts though.  Anyone know of anything?

Something like this.

Yes!

That's not exactly what I saw last week but it's still very much like what I'm looking for.  Didn't want something just on the bottom as that outboard lip would still be exposed.

The one I saw has a ball milled design in the side edge and was chrome.  The one in the edge is raw.  I can live with the raw though.  Raw material if I made my own would be half of what this guy is asking.  For that I just bought what was at at the link you sent.  I'll probably reshape the leading end just a little. Then rather than chrome I think I'll do powdercoat.

Thanks for the link man.  Appreciate the help.

No problem - sounds like you have a good plan.  Should look good when done.

Local metal shop I haunt occasionally has some nice ss pieces I could start from.  $20-25 in material probably.  These have some basic forming done and with the shop closed for the plague it's just easier to start with the formed parts right now.  Ordered them this morning.

When they get here will no doubt have to tinker some.  Then on to powder coating.  Not sure right now if I want them to stand out in some way with any machining or milling to the visually exposed edge or just want the whole thing to fade away with a powder coat color that closely matches the bike.  Decisions decisions....

True.

Of course there is the choice of matching, complementing, or contrasting?

Decisions decisions.
