Title: New Corbin Prices
Post by: Midnight Rider on September 07, 2007, 09:05:05 AM
If you've been waiting or have been hesitant to pull the trigger on a Corbin seat because of the expense, check out their new prices.  Some seats have new prices of $200 less.

Example:  Corbin Dual Tour for 06/07 SEUC is now $699 instead of $899

Don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but the prices are WAY cheaper right now.

Me and Thee...oh well, the seat is still worth it.  It keeps my a$$ from hurting, and that is invaluable.

My seat came down $200.00 ..  I really like my Corbin, but the $699 for their heated dual tour is a much more realistic price than the $899 I gave last year at the same time .    (and they had just went up $100 last year when I ordered).  Thanks for ruining my day, Terry  ::)  .  Heck, it's only money.   Unfortunately, it won't be the last item I bought over priced.

I will be looking for a seat when I get to Daytona next month. So this is pleasant news for me.

Thanks! I will be checking this out for my 08 SEUC.  A new seat has been on my list ever since I picked up the new bike cuz the stock seat is some kind of ugly.

Anyone have any recommendations on which seat, which cover,..... for a SEUC that is ridden two-up most of the time?

Quick question how much better is the Corbin seat than the stock seat for an 07 SEUC.  Is it really worth the dollars?  If it is I will have to add to my christmas list.

The Dual Tour would be the seat you want, w/heat.  The question is, will it fit your bike because of the relocation of the ECM, etc.  They do not list a seat yet for an 08 UC.  I would guess that is because the seat pan will have to be redesigned and new molds created.  But when they do one, if you ride two up most of the time, plan on leaving the TP on most of the time, the Dual Tour is the way to go, IMO.

Is "Much" a good enough answer for you.

One problem with the stock seat is that the seat foam squishes out and loses its supportability pretty quickly. The seats on the CUSEs are also known to wear rather quickly, showing problems with the welting around the edges. You'll more than likely wind up replacing the seat anyway, so my thought was to do it immediatedly and sell the stock seat while it was still worth something on ebay.

I bought the Corbin, at full price :nixweiss:, and am very glad I did. I plan on having that seat a long time and it is holding up wonderfully well so far.

The problem isn't going to be with the ECM relo, but with the new mounting system. The tang is now on the tank, not on the seat. The male and female parts got swapped around. No seat that will fit a pre-08 will fit an 08, atleast in the FLH group.

It's like the difference between sitting with a steel rod up your a$$ for 500 miles, and not...

Some people do not have a problem with the stock seat hurting them, but most find they do not care for the stock seat after the bike has a few thousand miles on it, or they have ridden more than 400 miles in a day, whichever comes first.

TC,
Thanks for the recommendation.
The ECM will not be the problem, it will be the way the seat mounts.  They switched the tang from the seat to the tank >> backwards from what it was.

Sure would be nice if there was somewhere (store front) that I could look at and touch the seat before I spend my $$$.  Doesn't Corbin have several options on coverings??...different types of leather and/or vinyl.  Any thoughts on what is best &/or most durable?

I had forgotten that I read that about the tang previously.  The ECM does not stick up further from the frame?  Either way, a new pan mold has got to be developed.  When they move the tang, that is a bad tang... ;)  Makes it harder to find the slot...

Come to HS or MV and you can touch, sit all you'd like to on a couple of different bike/seat combinations.  I've got different bars, and the heated Corbin.

I have the black leather/ostrich center pattern, like the stock seat, with roll/tuck stitching.  You have to get some stitch pattern with the heat, as that is how Corbin sews it in.  Not only is the seat more comfortable, it fits/looks better on the bike, IMO>

Bob, how did the nose job on yours turn out?

Don-Works with my thighs a lot better now.  They didn't reshape the nose but rolled the edges of the bucket just a little for me.  Turn around time was about 6 weeks as it was their busy season this past spring.  They said initially they would charge for the return shipping but didn't.  They also put on a whole new leather skin for the seating position that I hadn't expected as well as a new heating element (the old heater was fine).  I don't think they want to take any chances in some of these areas.   Normally Corbin sends you a tracking # when it leaves their plant.  I received the seat quite pleasantly unexpected.  The funny thing is that I rec'd the tracking # about a month after I received the seat.  Thought I might get a 2nd one but no such luck.   Bob

That sounds like precisely the change in shape they did to mine.  And it made a big difference.  Was really glad I had them to do it.  Mine was in January/February so missed nothng really.  But the seat was great when it got home. Glad it worked out for you too :2vrolijk_21: .

They do not list a seat yet for an 08 UC.

Looked on Corbin's web site.  They have a news letter on their site that has a small note about the seats for 08 bikes.  They explain that the dual tour seat will be the first available and then others will follow soon after.
They also are asking to borrow 08 bikes so they can design seats >> if you are close to one of their facilities, you could let them use you bike for a few days and get a free seat out of the deal.

Just got a chance to use my new Corbin duel heated seat tonight, wow! I never knew what I was missing. Best part is there is no way of getting around the 1,000 mile break in period but now at least I have a nice heating pad for my sore butt.
Also I'm surprised how much different the riding position on the dual is from the Corbin solo. I'm at least an inch higher and a couple of inches farther forward. Anyone else found this to be the case? :nixweiss:
