Mine are gone too. I just peeled them off and used GooGone for the residue.

If you bike just completely dies on you in the middle of a dark intersection, then it might be helpful for that crosstraffic to have a way to see you pushing your bike.  I'm just going with the odds and assuming that exact scenario isn't going to happen to me at any time in the near future.  If it does, I'm running when I see headlights coming in my direction and I'll be on the phone with the insurance company real quick.

I just realized that I forgot to take them off of the Vrod I just got.  Whew!  Lucky the reflector police didn't catch me.  But what gets me more than the reflectors is the number of people that I see that have never taken any of the stickers off their bikes.  I can't even leave a sticker on my Bic lighter for an entire day.

Only took mine off from one side, found it to be the answer as to why I was leaning when riding with no hands!
