There you go, just another fine example of how stealth this chrome can get.
It's just something about stealth chrome that can make you feel a lot better. Don't try to control the urge to have it; you see it can be healthy for you. ;D

I was thinking the metal do dad looked a lot like a shifter.....then if you had one in both legs I started to realize the shifter you would be most interested in is already mounted between what would be the newly istalled pieces.  Mmmm, have to think about all this and maybe revise the bikewash offer.

You are right, ran into a guy today that went in for shoulder surgery a few weeks back and they found a 99% blockage when they were pre-checking him for surgery.  Now he has some of garyt's stealth chrome and a new shoulder.

I've been holding out probably longer then I should've. Going to see doctor next week and going to mention to him that pain/quality of life is getting to the point that something has to be done. I'm thinking and going to mention to him that maybe Dec/Jan I take the plunge and go under the knife. This will be a good time since there is not much riding to do here in winter months, and I will not have to see/hear about all the stuff I'm missing out on. I've had a couple of friends have the procedure done and they swear by it, in fact one is considering going to have his other hip done. The only thing that I'm not looking forward to is not being able to go and come as a please and not working. Not that I'm a workaholic (ok, maybe I am to a certain degree I do have three jobs), it's just that I don't like sitting around all day doing nothing. Besides none of my jobs are labor intensive for 8 hours at a time, so they are not that bad.

I don't have that thumbscrew thing you mentioned, and never thought about it. I don't leave my tourpak on all the time. When I do use it for traveling I normal take it off when I arrive at destination and don't put it back on until I'm ready to return home. I just like the "draggin bagger" look. Because of tourpak not staying on all the time the only concern I would have w/using the thumbscrew is somebody walking along unscrewing it and walking off w/seat. I do still have the stock seat on my scooter, and can't imagine anyone wanting it, but you never know. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

d00D,  you may want to look into Hip resurfacing, vs hip replacement.  My dad just had it done this last year, and supposedly it's a much better deal.  Hoever, he had to go to Illinois to have it done....

I'm going to see a surgeon first of August. Will wait to see what he recommends, not even sure if condition of the joint would be a candidate for the resurfacing. As I think about it if I'm going to have to get cut I'm going to want some chrome. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Resurfacing sounds like the femur had some meat left.  When my dad has his done some years ago, they didn't have to saw any of his femur off as it had ground down to where no ball was left, just screw in the new one.  He actually chose not to be knocked out for the first one and watched the entire operation (or could have).  He went for the full sedative for the second one.

Went to my GP today for yearly physical and told him it was time to have this surgery done. I asked him some questions about procedure and he was giving me some explicit details. I don't think I'm going to be staying awake for this procedure. [smiley=nervous.gif]

I avoided the explicit details for fear I would pass out at the keyboard.  A great medic I was in the Air Force as you amy imagine. ;D

Amen D00d, Amen.  EMT qual'd here too.  Done stitches in my own hand before along with pointing a cockeyed finger or nose back the right direction.  But those are the absolute limits I ever want to see of myself as a patient.  Hell, I even want the dentist to put to me to sleep if he will (and that's just to read the bill).

Yep, from what I hear right after they get everything back together they rotate/extend/bend the joint into positions that aren't normal to make sure it is seated correctly. [smiley=nervous.gif]

That hurts just thinking about it.  I know it wouldn't be on my awake agenda.
