Rain Motorcycle Cover and traveling
« on: September 24, 2014, 10:32:22 PM »

I was wondering what you guys do with your bikes while parked at hotels when  traveling and it rains.

1.Do you bring a bike cover and use it?
2.Let it get wet, and deal with it later?
3.Don't take the bike out at all if there is a possibility of rain
4. Something else

The reason I ask is because I live in Florida and it rains alot and if I had to cancel trips because of rain I'd never go out... I can coordinate my riding to occur during non - raining times but when it rains do I just let it get soaked?

I got a black cover from Aerostich. Made of parachute material. Packs really small and you can't tell what's under.

I got rideof the CVO cover as soon as I got the bike home. Why anyone wants to signal what's under the cover is beyond me.

I like the idea of using a non cvo cover..it makes sense, but thus far I just let mine get wet unless it is convenient to put it under cover. They are made to get wet you know...

Hell in FLA you may not even have to dry it off because of the temps down there.

I use the cover more as a theft protection. Off course the Corbin seat tends to stay wet for a while if it get soaked so I like that covered up to.

I use a cover made by Exigent - fits great and packs small.  One of the many great items I bought thanks to info from this site.

Do a search and you will find several threads on the Exigent cover.

I take a waterproof cover.  If possible, I try to park under the portico at the hotel, so a cover isn't needed.

I use to use a light weight cover, more for the theft protection than the rain, but got to the point with the black bike that unless the bike was clean (just washed), felt that the cover caused more scratches than just leaving uncovered.  I do use a seat rain cover for the leather corbin though.  My CVO cover is a heavy 'indoor' dust cover, which I never use either.  spyder

I use a half cover. Easily packable.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback. I'm thinking of getting me one of those Exigent covers, at the moment I have an indoor/outdoor overpriced harley cover and the CVO cover. I tried folding up my indoor/outdoor cover and it takes up almost one whole saddlebag on my Deluxe.

Does the Exigent cover take up that much space or will i have atleast half the saddlebag space available after putting in the cover? Remember I have a CVO Deluxe.

If you must carry a rain cover, consider carrying it outside the bags with bungee cords on a rack or somewhere......it is a 'rain' cover, don't forget and no need to take up valuable dry storage space with it.  :thinking2: Har.  spyder

cycle gear carries one for about 20 bucks that packs small and works fine. I have carried it around for years with no complaints.
