Amsoil Oil Filter Changes?
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:11:56 AM »

I've always used the Amsoil 134 filters on my bike.  No special reason just did.  I just went to change my oil and filter and noticed the special oil filter wrench I bought years ago no longer fits?  Took a look inside the filter and it appears as though the anti-drian back valving assembly is gone too.  Also the six return holes are reduced in diameter by about 50%.

Does it matter.  Who knows.  Just putting it out there.

I love Amsoil, but I use K&N oil filters.

Are you certain you got the right filter?  The reason I ask is that others, including K&N, have similar looking but internally different filters for Evo's versus Twin Cams.  One of the differences with the K&N is the old filter has no drainback valve and the new one for the Twin Cam does.  I wonder if you have a similar situation.

Contact Amsoil and ask them.

Yes,

I have the right filter.  Amsoil support says they eliminated the drain back valve and it now uses the harley wrench and not the special Amsoil filter wrench I purchased.

Specs on the website still claim the drainback valve is in the filter.

Oh well! :soapbox:

Only my .02, but oil is far more important than filter. Any 5 micron filter will do a good job. Cannot be said for any oil  :soapbox:
