Got some miles and time in wearing the Indie Ridge boots, I have nothing but good things to say about them. I’ll have a pair of their waterproof boots before too long.

I've had these Ariat boots for years.  I prefer the lace up as they provide better ankle support and can be loosened up depending on sock thickness. They are quite cool in summer and comfortable for a hike in a National Park.  Before my last in country tour in Afghanistan I had them resoled and added 1/2" cushioned midsole for better ground insulation and comfort.  They also help a short guy like me flatfoot both my motorcycles.

In winter I wear my insulated RedWing boots.  Same type, lace up over the ankle with a 1/2" cushioned midsole.

Another vote for the Klim Outlander GTX. Waterproof, not too hot in the summer, and comfortable for walking/hiking for an extended period of time if needed. I sometimes even wear mine just out and about when not on the bike. And that Boa system is nice. Just a good all-around boot.

Indie Ridge has a 15% off sale till the end of Sunday 8/4.
