Oily residue on rear cylnder
« on: April 20, 2015, 07:12:25 PM »

I have an oily residue on the back side of the rear cylinder's cooling fins.  It is in the middle of the jug and was thinking it might be spraying there. There is also a small amount on the cases in front of the coil support bracket.

Does anybody else have this and if they know where it is coming from?

It turned out to be a slightly porous rear cylinder.  It is the back of the rear cylinder below the head gasket.  I will clean it every few hundred miles and have it replaced at the end of the riding season.
