That was an issue a couple of software updates ago.  What version do you have?  The latest is 1.18.3

Mine has done this too.......  Same thing sometimes happens to my car stereo/nav.  I think the more they put computers in everything the more they need to reboot or have other startup problems.

I've had it happen on mine as well. I noticed that the voice activation toggle doesn’t work either when the volume acts up. I have version 1.18.3 installed on mine. As a side note they've replaced the left hand control module 3 times now. 1st time the accessorie mode stopped working. 2nd time the joystick would stick in the down position. 3rd time the bike would go into diagnostic mode at startup.

It's a software issue. H-D thought they had it fixed with update 1.18.3... not.  They claim to be working on it.  Seems to be related to the AVC issue as well.

Harley needs to try to keep up with the rest of the industry.  When they add internet connectivity to the bikes, like some versions of automakers systems, they can push constant updates to you automatically just like Microsoft does.  And just like with those Microsoft automatic updates, you will then get to spend the rest of the month fixing what the updates screwed up, or living with it until the next batch of updates and hope they fixed what they screwed up.  In other words, just like what Harley is doing now, but automatically so the customer doesn't have to download and install anything.

Mine does this also. Or the promp volume for navigation cant be changed.  Turn off bike and works again. Turn off radio didn't seem to fix it.

Do you guys have the volume muted or turned all the way down before starting the bike up? I have seen this happen several times but as long as the volume isn't all the way down or muted before start up it seems to always work properly

Ah - Terror Tuesdays.  The bane of Microsoft Certified System Engineers everywhere.

Repeat after me - I love my Mac. I love my Mac.  Now go enjoy some refreshing Apple flavored Kool-Aid and hope Harley goes the Apple updating route instead of the Microsoft one if they ever do figure out connectivity.
