TOM TOM RIDER 2 VS ZUMO 550
« on: July 28, 2008, 08:02:18 AM »

I sold my Zumo to my brother on the weekend. Might go with the Tom Tom Rider 2 this time (only because I know someone who deals in them) Anyone having any feed back on the Tom Tom let me know. THE MUFFMAN

I have the TomTom. have had it for a few years and think it's great. I've read a lot of posts about the Zumo, but can't imagine it being any better than the TT. It is an excellent GPS.

I'm in the market and have yet to decide!

The best TOM TOM RIDER 2 is the best Tom Tom has to offer. I'm probably going to pull the trigger on one.

I am not sure whether the sound on the TomTom Rider 2 can be connected to the H-D premium sound system on our great bikes or if the sound can only be through the TomTom Bluetooth headset. Can anyone please clarify. :nixweiss:

I have used regular TomTom in my car both in Europe and in the US and it works great as a GPS :)

You are correct sir! I just went through this with a buddy, the The Tom Tom will only broadcast to a bluetooth device. I'm not familiar w/ the HD one, maybe somebody else could chime in. .

I've experience of both. The Tomtom software is miles better than the Zumo, but the Zumo hardware is better than the Tomtom.....

I have Tom Tom Rider 2 and swear by it.  Blue tooth headset that comes with it works well and no problem hearing it at speed.  The speaker sits in the helmet, not your lug hole, so no discomfort on a long trip.   Wife also has Scala Rider headset and the bike to bike comms are fine.  Tom Tom Rider goes from car to bike and back again no worries at all.  The only thing I don't like is the RAM mount for the bike but I'm looking at alternatives.

Is the Tom Tom Rider 2 made for all weather like the Zumo? does it play MP3's? Hold Pictures? Will it connect to the audio in jack located in the front of your HD stereo system so that you can play music stored in it thru your Harley's stereo system? Thanks for any input!

I've been doing a little reseach on both... the answer to your questions are yes, no, no,no and no...

I have no life and read all 37 pages of the tips thread!

Everyone says the Tom Tom software is better, but Zumo has more features... plus demi god DooD knows Zumo software inside and out!

The decision has been made to get the Zumo... just looking for the BB $449.00 deal!

Getting another Zumo. Doesn't look like the Tom Tom is mp3. It is all weather. One think I liked about the Tom Tom is you can link to other buddies using the Tom Tom & will know where they are at all times. I had the 550 & liked it but my brother needed one for his trip so I sold it to him. Getting another 550 today. THE MUFFMAN

If you guys don't need the blue tooth feature the 450 is pretty much the same for less money. Maybe doesn't have the XM either but who's paying $200+ for a xm antennae anyway? :P
