Mounted and Wired my GPS
« on: March 06, 2009, 09:44:38 PM »

Very happy with how clean this set up came out. Went down to my local Radio Shack and purchased a low amp power plug.

A little soldering, and some power tapping from the cigarette lighter. Now all I have left to do is get the mounting bracket and hardware chromed, and I'll be good to go.

that looks great.  I am assuming that that plug is for power. Can you give a bit more detail as to the hows and parts used.  Any additional pics would be great too.

The plug in the speedo bezel is for power for my Zumo450
The Radio Shack part# 274-1576
Size N * Panel-Mount * Coaxial
DC Power Jack

I pulled power from the cigarette lighter. (Yes, you have to remove the fairing)

I wanted to use a shielded, 2 wire set up. After looking all over town, and refusing to buy 25 ft. at a time for 2 ft. of project. A thought hit me, What does everyone have laying around in numerous amounts....... ! Cell Phone Chargers......
I took an old cell phone charger and cut it with a pair of wire cutters, and lo and behold......
