Ipod in Riders Claw to headset via Bluetooth
« on: April 02, 2009, 11:59:31 AM »

Hi

I hope this is of use to some of you.

I've got a Riders Claw on my Ultra and I can attach to the sound system via hardwire.  However, my wife has a Rocker C and I didn't really want wires trailing from the handlebars to her Autocom.

Anyway, bluetooth seemed to be the answer, but it was really hard to find a bluetooth receiver.

I decided to experiment and got hold of a Jabra A125S transmitter and a Sony Ericsson MBR-100 receiver, which I think is normally used for mobile phones.

Set the pairing up as per instructions and they paired with each other.

Attached the Jabra A125S to the nano and the Sony MBR-100 to my Autocom socket and it worked!

Not sure about the robustness of the Jabra and it doesn't stay that secure in the nano, so I might have to put the nano in upside down to stop it falling out.

Sony do an ipod transmitter as well, maybe that clips in and is more robust, might try that next.

The other thing is both transmitter and receiver are chargeable, so don't draw current from the nano.

Cost for the Sony was £10 second hand off ebay, £20 to £30 new? and the Jabra with its own headset was £30 new.

I'll attach some pictures:

Look'n good Jon!
Not sure about that upside-down thing...
I'll see what I can locate on a Bluetooth device with a more robust connection to the Nano port.

I know, I'm not happy about that either, I'm sure you could get something that can just plug into the Harley system or something like an Autocom as a receiver and also attach more robustly to the nano as a transmitter.  Just trying to get rid of wires.
