garmin 660 on my 2011 SERU
« on: April 19, 2011, 10:28:19 AM »

According to Garmin, my antenna cable for traffic from my 550 should work on the 660 that came mounted to me bike. I don't see a plug in on my handle bars mount. I have GTM 12 cable. Do I need to buy a different cable from  garmin?

No, I think you'll find the socket on the 660 harness inside the fairing.

Yep, its inside the fairing.  Unlike the 550 where it plugged into the cradle mount.  They relocated it inside the fairing.  The plug has a rubber cover on it.

I too have been trying to figure this out for some time now. This is Great news!! :pepper:
Once I find the cable to plug into does the GTM 12 cable have to be routed out into the open or will it get a good enough signal inside the fairing??

Thanks

After a little looking I found the plug for the traffic antenna. Just mounted the antenna on top of the radio. It works just fine!!
Thanks for the info.
The dealer I went to fore help on this said I would need to activate the XM radio to make it all work!?!?
Thanks again!!!!!!!!

So, you get the GMT 12, plug it in to the 660 and it just works? Do you have to pay for a subscription too??

I have the life time traffic subscription with the 660. So it works in my car and since I found the plug on the inside of the fairing it works on the bike now. Garmin couldn't seem to help and neither could the dealership. But thanks to the information I got here I went looking for the plug with the rubber cover. Now it all works great!!

Thanks again, this site is the best!! :2vrolijk_21:

Life time Traffic subscription is $49.99.
GTM 12 antenna is $149.99, but you can find a better price on ebay.

I have always had mine in the fairing, and it works in areas where the signal is strong.  I don't know if it would be better out of the fairing or not, as I've never tried it.

11seshark stated it correct. This site is the best. Plugged in the cable last night and laid the antenna inside on the top of the radio. Getting a string signal, but I live in Chicago which might help. Thanks for all the positive input.
