Thoughts on adding more speakers on 2013 SERK
« on: September 21, 2013, 10:02:40 PM »

Can anyone think of any way to add front speakers up by the handlebars without adding a fairing? I was thinking about the speakers like the CVO Softail Convertible. I don't really want speakers hangin' off the bars but rather kinda hidden behind the bars and in front of the windshield.  I'd like to tie them in with the other speakers and run them off the Ipod. Maybe with a separate amp of their own.
I'm just looking for a little more in your face sound. The 3/4 and full helmets I wear muffle the sound even with ear plugs. The music is much clearer with a 1/2 helmet. But i rarely wear those. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks BR

If you don't want to add a fairing, you can add "speaker buckets" to your front engine guards.

They make these speaker buckets big enough to install 5.25 or 6.5" speakers.

For an example, see this:

The 2013 SERK comes with speakers in the lower fairings and speakers in the saddlebags.
I just missing having the speakers right in your face like the Street glides have. Having said that I like not having a fairing on the bike. However a detachable fairing maybe the cheapest way to get the sound I'm looking for. Thanks for the replies. BR

If you get a good amp and some good 6.5" speakers in the lowers, you wont need a fairing. The stock boom audio speakers are not good.

OR... you can go up to 7.25" ROKR in the lowers with the correct buckets .. jus happens that I have a complete set of this that I removed from my 2011 CVO SG .. they can be bought ..

Get some really large and really powerful big-assed headphones.  Cut some holes in the side of your helmet.  Slide the headphones over the skid lid.  Problem solved....
