Tech needle hard to see at night?
« on: September 03, 2006, 06:10:54 AM »

I just road at night for the first time and noticed the tach is hard to read. The pointer is hard to see and does not light up much. Is this typical? Thanks, Kurt

Yep - Unfortunatley, they didn't light the tach needle like they did with the Speedo.

I'll have to check when the rain stops...I do not regularily ride the SED at night so it never stood out as being weak...now I know I will watch...

Hey guys, the Vrod has the same problem...this company makes a fix for the vrod...is it possible for it to work in the tach on your bikes?

Speical Ed has done this to his vrod...he provided the link.

Well, never been able too see it at night, never give it much thought, just figured since these bikes are so cheap harley didn't think they were worth the worry! But you went and said something about the darn thing ,the chrome cover fell off today going down the road,I looked at the cheap little housing that houses the works, and well it's plastic,so i guess it couldin't live with the vibration,Called harley shop, they ordered one, said week to ten days,I should only be so lucky!Well I guess being hard too see is just a little thing.I still wouldn't swap the bike for any other brand!I love the thang, see ya.

Thanks for the link - I'm going to have to check the PN's, but that looks to be the same tach.  I'm going to check into this.
