WYD OPN, now that I have had time to digest your information,
I have no reason not to believe what you say on the Production figures. But, the intended run
projected back in 2006 was 2500 units. When the 2008 production year started, the CVO thread
showed 2400 units believed to be the cause of the strike. The numbers you have been given, if
I have counted correctly account to 2558. Albeit, the 2400 IMHO, was just a figure thrown out.
The Motor Co's CVO feed in the on line model show, has never been steady showing 2400 in 2008,
2500 in 2009.
Personally, I would not buy your source a beer, yet !
My source is a direct copy/paste from Harley-Davidson's internal database. I have personally confirmed the FXSTSSE numbers 4 times now. Call H-D Customer Service, give them your VIN, and ask for the numbers again.
You're going by an '06 H-D projection and an estimate on the online CVO "ticker-tape". I'd wager the database is accurate, since it has provided all the numbers over the years. Discrepancies were omissions of certain markets or human error. I eliminated human error by requesting a direct copy/paste.
Here are H-D's projections for 2012s:
FLSTSE3 1,600
FLHXSE3 3,500
FLTRXSE 2,200
FLHTCUSE7 3,500
For comparsion, here are H-D's projections for 2011s and actual production numbers:
FLSTSE2 1,500 ........ 1,901 (+401)
FLHXSE2 3,500 ........ 3,738 (+238)
FLTRUSE 2,100 ........ 2,906 (+806)
FLHTCUSE6 3,500 ........ 2,413 (-1,087)
TOTAL 10,600 ........ 10,958 (+358)
That's why I don't go by H-D's projections. Not even close by model, though the total isn't too far off.
