And Then There Was a Problem. . .
« on: December 05, 2006, 07:26:01 AM »

:( :( :( :(The expected ship date of the BI SERK I have a deposit on is tomorrow.  So far no problem, should be using one of these -  [smiley=pepper.gif].  But about ten days ago we found out the wife's office is closing (You have a good holiday season too...).  Let's hear the reasons I should go ahead and get a big toy now.  You know, life is short, death is a long time.  That sort of thing.  It's hard to see it from here when it will sit in the garage most of the next five months.

Well, not exactly the same thing.  I had been waiting for a while for mine.  About a week before it arrived the wife and I decided it was time to go our seperate ways.  Needless to say, all that this decision brings to the table made it really hard to make a call on following through with the purchase of the SERK.  I spoke to the dealer and there was no problem getting the deposit back since he had 2 more in the wings that wanted the bike.  I already own a 2006 RK Std that is paid for and rides like a dream.  Long story short, I have 2 bikes in the garage now and I will figure out how to make it work as I know you will too.  Best of luck to you and I am sure your wife will find a new job soon.  Ride Safe.

Well its a tough descision to make once you have your heart set on something. But if its meant to be it will figure itself out. Work thru your family issues first and put everything else second. Good luck.  Q

It's really too bad about your wife's employment and I don't profess to know it all.  Being in a situation where cash is tight is not pleasant. There's just something about the enjoyment of hopping on your bike (with your wife) and taking off for the day with friends.  If there is a way to make it happen...go for it.  Though you may not get out for every ride with your buddies, the ones you go on will be remembered forever...though you have to understand...I'm hooked, this Harley thing has got me.

I went through a similar situation in 2003, had put a deposit down on an '03 Ultra Classic and was already to get it. Ended up not getting the bike, waiting a year and getting my SEEG. Sometimes life throws you a lemon, but you can end up making lemonade out of it. There may be a reason for this, and something better is in store for you down the road. Do what you have to do to take care of your family; they will appreciate it, and the sacrifice you have made. Then when the timing is right they will totally support you.

[smiley=pepper.gif] [smiley=pepper.gif] [smiley=pepper.gif] [smiley=pepper.gif] The dancing peppers are back!  I'll even throw in a dancing pineapple and a pickle.  [smiley=pineapple.gif] [smiley=cucumber.gif] Sometime today a truck bound for Nebraska should leave York with MY Black Ice SERK inside.  We decided to go with the wife's employability rather than the short-term situation.  No snow yet, so maybe it will come home with its tires on the pavement.

That's great news. I'm glad she's confident that she'll find something and that it didn't affect the bike. Good luck with it and her job searching. Let's hear/see it when you get it. 8-)

It's here!  Dealer called 12-15 to say it would be ready to go the next morning.  It was predicted to be sunny and 50 the next day, so it looked like it would be coming home on it's own wheels.  Saturday, however, dawned foggy, 34, with wet and slimey roads.  So it had to come home on the trailer, but it cleared off in the afternoon and I was at least able to get in about 40 miles of cool riding.  Have to go to New Orleans to work on levee design for a while, but I'll post some pictures and early riding impressions when I get back.
