Title: Subwoofer Ideas Needed For SESG - No Tour Pak
Post by: hdnik on July 08, 2010, 08:27:55 AM
I'm thinking I want more bass without an extreme custom system. I have no tour pak.

Current set up is simple... have OEM Harmon Kardon head with HawgWired Direct Connect System which is only 2 channel... so i think i need to go with a powered subwoofer and connect it in phase with the speakers. I also was thinking of adding the HawgWired tweeter pods up front for more direct to the ear crispness then adding something like the Kenwood KSC-SW10 in a bag or something.

Has anyone tried something like this or have any thoughts?

 I would call Jim (hd-dude)  510-885-9471

He is a Hawg wire dealer, and a great guy to work with  :2vrolijk_21:

He will help you, I promise

My initial thought would be a mini-bazooka in one of the lids.  (To save storage space).

I've just started to look into adding a sub, what did you eventually go with?

Have added the HW tweeter pods and HD XM kit... but at this point no sub-solution yet. Any other ideas?

I got a copy of the 2011 Kuryakyn catalogue in the mail today. They're making a saddlebag lid speaker setup that attaches to the top of the saddlebag lid vice cutting into it. Might want to take a look. Other than that, I can tell you that what Chains has in his custom V-Rod Bagger is off the fricken charts.

Off the fricken chart is what I'm after. So what's he got?

8' sub in saddle bag. I converted it to a band pass box. Arc Audio 500 watt mono running the sub. Hawg Wired direct connect running the front system. Kenwood head unit...  (4) 6 1/2"s in the dash..

Here is an updated picture. I am running Hertz componet speakers in the stock location. Notice the flush mount tweeters in the dash. I have shallow mount pioneers in the side. They are 1 1/2" deep so they do not interfere with the glove boxes. The bag has a Rockford Fosgate 8" subwoofer. I also have made a removable box the goes in the tour pack with a 10" Rockford sub. This baby sounds better then most car stereos. The bass and sound is incredible. I added a spare battery in the left saddle bag. No charging issues...

Chains...Did you perhaps have that customized by Cycle Visions? I've seen a V-Rod Bagger that Randy Aron did for Brad Pitt that had the same set up...

YO Doc

We had a complete thread on this when Chains picked up the bike at auction for a price that would make Brad Pitt wonder if somebody hung a "SUCKER" sign on his back.
