Road glide GoPro mounting
« on: March 07, 2016, 10:30:44 PM »

I'm sure this has been asked, but search didn't lead me to any treasures here on the forum.
What is a good way to mount a GoPro on a cvo road glide? I have a 2011, and want something that sees past the windshield rather than through it. I'm not interested in a cheesy helmet mount either. Thanks in advance :)

Search for a thread about mounting a radar detector to a Road Glide. I think that will give you useful information. I think you will find it that way.

I did the Ram handlebar claw and hung upside down from my crash bar. Go Pro adjusted automatically and it just kinda blends in. My buddies got me the Go Pro for Xmas so I could record my rides for them as both used to ride and no longer can. I didn't want to wear the goofy helmet mount and have a 18 inch smoked windshield so I was challenged to find a spot. I put the camera on "narrow" recording and it works great.

I do pretty much the same.

Mount mine on the left side of the engine guards, just below the highway bars.

I've been puzzling over the same problem with my '15 RGU.  The lowers would seem to limit the space available.  Can you post a picture?  Second question:  have you hard wired the GoPro and if so, how did you do it?

I use the IPhone app to control the Go Pro. Camera ends up hanging a couple of inches above the brake pedal by the time you connect the adaptor to the claw then connect the camera which ends up being about 8 inches long. Gives an interesting perspective of the ride with the road being so close to the camera, really shows the speed. I loaned the camera setup out to a friend for his bike but will take a pic and post it when I get it back.

I've installed a clamp mount to upper front shock made by Hogtag.  Have not used it much so still getting used to it but gets it out in front of fairing.  Only real issue is you cannot put hands on it so it has to be controlled by remote or smart phone.

I wonder if there is a reasonable way to install it so that it can be used hands on on a roadglide.....

I am pretty new a using the gopro...but I use ram mounts on the bike, crash bar, handle bars, luggage rack and a selfie stick...I know this video is on a street glide but the mounts should be the same on a road glide....I also you a smart remote to turn on the gopro when its time to film...I have 2 extra batteries and two places to charge them on the bike...Heres a link of a video I put together last year....you can get and idea where the camera is mounted..https://vimeo.com/128617430#t=NaNs

Naitram, so you bolted through the windshield or you used a peel and stick helmet mount?

I used my Sport mount suction cup extension off the side of my '09 SERG once and it worked kind of okay, but at stoplights etc, it was very bouncy from the motor idle vibration.  Being in the center may also help to relieve some of the vibrations too.

Thanks.

I use the suction cup also on my street glide, it holds like glue, had it on at interstate speeds and never have had an issue.
