Non Full Dresser Integrated Audio System
« on: April 08, 2007, 10:17:19 AM »

Is anyone familiar with this system from J&M? http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=29 It has built in FM and integrates other functions found in a built in unit, by adding these items as plug-in adds. Cell Phone, MP3, I-Pod, Nav, CB, Intercom. It looks like you can plug in 2 headsets (not necessarily helmet type) and get as many functions as you'd need. Is this thing any good? Looks like a good alternative to those ugly handlebar mounted boomboxes for a SERK, and a lot more functionality than just an I-Pod in your pocket connected to earphones. Any feedback on this unit or another one like it? Thanks. Hoist! 8)

Nothing built in d00d, but I'd been known to carry a walkman on trips, in the past. Looking for a modern day alternative, maybe with a little more flexibility than just an MP3. This thing looked pretty cool. Hoist! 8)

not sure if this thing will fit a SERK on not....  was gonna pull the trigger on helping a partner but it for a Dyna yesterday at the Easy Rider show....  but , er a weather got in the way...  19 and ice fog not good riding weather..
bout 399 average price, MSRP is 499
i have seen one at Mile High Harley...  it is good lookin, clean simple and pushes out sound...

very helpful folks and this thing seems a hell of a lot safer than earplugs...

i picked up the Autocom system last fall after a recommendation from someone here....
have used it sparingly..  but i do like it.
I havent mounted it yet, it jams in a pouch or a pocket...
some feedback on it:
- it works best with a full face...  to use with an open helmet requires some dorky earcups...havent hard mounted it as i dont use the full face all the time....
- Intercom with Ipod is awesome
- interface with bike to bike is pretty cool...  i need to work on how best to use it ( i set the radios for voice activated) and you aint sposed to....  reading the instructions would help...lol
- telephone interface is clear...  but I aint smart enough to work voice dialing..which is ok, i dont really want to talk on the phone while im riding most of the time anyway...
- 1 bummer..  when you hook up the intercom, bike to bike, phone  and Ipod ..you are wired up like crazy...  i havent figured out a clean solution yet....  at the moment i use a side pouch on the Kuryakyn bag ...  it works but it aint pretty...
been thinking about the bag guard storgae bag as a cleaner solution...

And only a few "minor" changes until next Fall as I recall.  Now instead of "2Yr Warranty" it's FTW and the list of guys that won that bet are longer than your arm.  So what's next.................

ohyea, 1 more thing....
the ear speaker mike thing....
tried it in my 3/4 helmet...  was hooping for more flexibility..
squeezed my head bad......  had to put it in my full face which fit the gear better ....  so look at the helmet you want to use first carefully...
i wasnt into melting foam out of the helmet..

Right now without wireless I know what you mean Scot, my wife says I look pretty dorky on the bike with the umbilical cord and mike.  I guess it's the price we pay for the communication.

There is the J&M half helmet with the zip in earpieces and mike that was posted elsewhere for a quick change on a half helmet.

See dork (me) below on the CC ride.

Tour pak, saddlebags and a big bag.  How much chit did you pack Roger  :o ?

Don't you remember Canuck and Sue givin' me nutin' but chit with all my clothing.  I was pretty much prepared for anything and everything on that trip.  Three leather jackets, chaps, I don't recall how many T-Shirts, pressed SE Shirt, three kinds of gloves, three pairs of shoes.................christ I can't remember it all, oh and I had a cowboy hat too :huepfenlol2:

With Cindy going to Nelson it will be a big change in packing strategy.  I never needed to do any laundry though.

I guess.....  Of course I didn't have as long a trip to get there as you did.  I was only about an 850-ish mile one day ride home.  But I still had long sleeves and short sleeves and electrics and long johns and camera and chargers and 32,654 CVO gathering pins and god knows what else.  Tour pak was full though.  Still felt guilty packing so much space full for such a short trip.  Roger, you pack like a girl.

Screw laundromats.  Jeans can last a long time.  Tshirts and underwear and socks are CHEAP at Wal Mart.  On-the-road resupply for extended trips doesn't cost that much more than plugging coins in to a laundry anymore.  And you don't have to wait all the time it takes for the machines to eat your clothes.

Screw laundromats.  Jeans can last a long time.  Tshirts and underwear and socks are CHEAP at Wal Mart.  On-the-road resupply for extended trips doesn't cost that much more than plugging coins in to a laundry anymore.  And you don't have to wait all the time it takes for the machines to eat your clothes.

you are correct..
the other thing is..normally end up with tourpack full of new HD tshirts...  so...  yea, screw laundry

I'm not even sure exactly when; but I pretty much stopped doing the dealership t-shirt thing.  The pile had just gotten so large, and the damn things are so stupidly expensive, and I always end up wearing the ones from the top of the pile anyway; that I kicked the habit.  There was withdrawal.  Tried the whole methodotshirt rehab 12 step thing.  But eventually cold turkey worked best.  Recovery being what it is though I will of course occasionally relapse if I see something very very cool.  But old ones are wearing out now faster than new ones are being accumulated.  They're going to have to wear out for a long time, however, to make a significant dent in the pile.

You know you have to many when you find some still w/tags on them, and you don't remember how long ago you got them. :o I no longer buy dealer t-shirts either. Try to only by event t-shirts for new events I attend. The ones I attend on a regular/yearly basis I no longer by shirts unless it's something spectacular.

There is that.  I do tend to go home with more than I started with.  And most of it is souvenirs for a little girl....

My wife stated that I have so many t-shirts in the closet (can't fit anymore in my dresser), that she's going to swap closets with me, because I, gasp, have more clothes than her!!! :vrolijk27:  I guess I should stop getting dealer t's also...
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

That was my dilemma. :( Then once they get out of the normal place you look for shirts you forget about them and they don't get worn. I've started using them all out of a drawer then rotating some from other storage places into the drawer so I will wear them all.
