Compass, or am I crazy.
« on: October 03, 2008, 10:51:49 AM »

I could have sworn that when I first got my '07SEUC it displayed the direction I was going when the stereo was on.  I let the batter run down one night because I left it in ACC , since then it does not display the direction.  I do not have the owners manual or I would look it up, I bought the bike used.  Now, am I crazy or did it actually do this?

There is a compass on the radio display so you're not crazy. To get the compass back I think you may need to reactivate the GPS since your dead battery took the system off line.

Piper is correct.  You have to activate the GPS for the compass to show on the radio.  Just hit the NAV button, put the 1st disk from the GPS set in and it will activate.  After that you should have the compass even when you do not have the GSP disks in the unit.

I think that's it, but you may have to ride the bike around the block with the Nav unit on to calibrate.  I remember reading something like that somewhere, but I don't remember doing it?  Old timers disease came early for me!

Yup, what J Carr said.  May even come on by pushing the Nav button without inserting the CD.  But make sure to be in your driveway to store the location as 'home' if it prompts you to put the appropriate nav CD in.

Great answers guys, so let me get this straight.  Start the bike, in my driveway, pop in the NAV CD, store the location as home, ride the bike around the block to calibrate, then activate the homing beacon and hit the tractor beam button to automatically be pulled home?  At this point I can go through the shut down sequence prior to the cool down process and then retire to the ready room and await my next sortee?  ;)
I will play with it when I get home and document proper proceedures!   :2vrolijk_21: :D

Don't forget to re-align the dilithium crystals.  :D  Oh yeah... And check for oil at the back cylinder...  :o
