Change the riser(s)  I've had to do that before to make things work

I'm considering changing the risers to get a little more pullback, the problem is finding risers that pullback and will fit a 1.25" handlebar!

right now I'm looking at the '04 SE Deuce risers and the riser stud kit to adapt "standard" risers to fit a springer.
the stock FXSTSSE risers are 5" and the SE Deuce risers are 6.5" with about a 2.50" pullback, just need to see if I have enought slack in the internal wiring to make it work. The brake, clutch and throttle cables should be fine.
The only other issue may be clearance between the risers and fuel tank when the forks are turned all the way to one side.... :2vrolijk_21:

Wild 1 makes an adapter to allow their 1" bar fit on Harley's 1.25" riser. Very neat and simple piece.  www.wild1inc.com

The W1's are 1.25" bars, turned down at the clamp area, for 1" riser. You have to replace the risers to standard risers. On a SERK, you'd replace with the 1" tall risers and a solid riser clamp. Hoist! 8)

actually Wild 1 has a 2 piece adapter that goes over their bar and increases the bar to 1.25 and it fits in the stock CVO riser

how about some pullback risers for the stock 1.25" bars? :nixweiss:

I think I'm going to try the SE Deuce risers....

Steve,
Is your detachable windshield a HD or aftermarket, I'm looking for one myself for an 08 FXSTSSE2.
Thanks,
Scott

UPDATE..........

SE Deuce risers won't work!
I bought a set of SE Deuce risers and an adapter stud kit that adapts standard risers to fit a springer front end, but It seems that the SE Springer risers are unique to the SE Springer!

the riser has a "spacer" that sits between the actual riser and the top plate of the forks, the "spacer" screws into the forks, and has a stud that the riser slips over, the problem is that the threaded hole in the forks where the "spacer" screws into the fork is a bigger diameter than any other springer fork!

there are no pullback risers available to fit this front end.
so right now, the only way to get more pullback is to change the handlebars, and I'm not going through all that expense for a few inches of pullback.
unless beerman has success with the wide glide setup and it's not too expensive................

It doesn't' look like the Wide Glide HD bars will work either
Apparently, the width at the risers is so much more on the Springers that the Wide Glide bars are too narrow at the base to bolt up. That, and the "knurling" will be off as well.
Simple chit like this is always intersting !!!!
If you wanted to run Big Block Chevy valves in your Buell---THAT we could figure out but Ape Hangers on a Springer - that's a tough one !!!
Obviously - someone with $1500 to throw at this issue will indeed get it done - but I'm not that guy

Dang ... glad I read this.  I was contemplating going with mini apes ... I will wait until someone does it succesfully and see what all they had to go through.  Before I took deliver over a year ago, I thought about getting some of those billy lane risers with the bullet cartridge head embeddee in them, but he doesn't make any 1.25" so I gave that idea up.
