2011 FLHXSE2 CVO
« on: August 11, 2010, 02:56:58 PM »

I just pulled the trigger Friday on a 2011 FLHXSE2 CVO (Black Diamond & Crimson) and I must say it's one HELL of a ride! Had it three days and I've already put 750 miles on it. I have a question though...Does anyone know if it's possible to pull the baffles from the stock exhaust? Has anyone had any success doing it?

Fullsac 1.75 in mine, too.  But if I had to do it again I think I'd go with the 2.0

I originally bought 1.75" baffles and traded them in for the 2" which I'm satisfied with.  I was originally afraid the 2" might be too loud to hear the radio and for my taste but they are only a little louder than the 1.75" and still quieter than most pipes.  I thought it was a pain to grind out the welds in the pipes without damaging them.  I did about 95% of one pipe nearly busting through the pipe before I sent them to Fullsac and had them finish.  It was worth the $ IMHO.  If you have the right tools might be easier but I spent several hours.  I did it with a dremel and various bits, none really suited for the job or long enough to get inside the pipe with the bit and remain at a straight cutting angle.

You may also want to consider sending your head pipe to Steve at Fullsac so that he can remove your cataliytic converter, too.

I read a post on here a few weeks ago from Steve that says he is not doing that anymore. He will sell you a new pipe, but isn't doing the cat removal thing anymore.

Any buzz on the streets about Harley dumping the warranty or refusing maintenance for modifying the exhaust? It's one of the first things I wanna do if I get a 2011 but using military sales they tack on a 5 yr warranty. Almost ran into problems with my Duramax because I dropped the cat. It's an 05 and the warranty dropped dead this last July. If changing pipes is just an EPA bs thing then I'm golden. Guess it depends on the dealership.

I have heard it depends on the dealer...once you dump the exhaust they know you probably added a tuner and if they want to bust chops they will.

Guess I'll check with my dealer first or have them put the stuff on. My main concern is with past overheating problems on the 110. I called two dealerships and they told me this problem has been corrected. Whether they're blowing smoke or not is kinda why I'm here on this site. Of course if I become an owner then I'll be a regular.  :cucumber:

Depending on where you're from - I just had the cat removed and the fullsac 2" cores installed by Jim/Metal Dragon in Hayward. The sound quality is a lot better (deeper/richer) but actually not a whole lot louder. Wind noise has more impact on the stereo sound than the pipes do.

What's the best tool/bit to grind the spot weld off the stock mufflers if you want to install fullsac baffles?

I used a 1/4" carbide bit in my air die grinder, worked real good. I removed the mufflers from the bike and removed the end caps then sliped the muffler back on the bike and had plenty of light and ground off the welds one at a time while rotating the muffler so that the welds were on the bottom while grinding.  Doc

I have heard it depends on the dealer...once you dump the exhaust they know you probably added a tuner and if they want to bust chops they will.

It does depend on the dealer (which is illegal).....but they claim it's the MoCo.  The Magnussen Moss Warranty Act basically says that the failure has to be directly related to the failure for them to be able to deny the warranty.

All of my bikes since my 89 Ultra Classic have been modified but it's never become an issue with the factory warranty or the extended warranty (service agreement).  Most recently, just a few weeks ago my wife's bike  (09 Street Glide, cams, tuner, exhaust and Ness Big Sucker air cleaner) started making a noise in the primary and we took it in.  The run out was .0015.  In two weeks they had received the new motor made with her VIN stamped in it, from the MoCo and had it back in the bike.  We also had the chrome inner primary installed since the labor was free.  Mods were not an issue.

My bike, a 10 SESG (cams, TTS tuner, Fullsac baffles, dyno tuned, etc), took it in last week for...........you guessed it..........noise in the primary.  My noise was different than my wife's and could barely detect the noise but I didn't wait.......got it in there.  Mine turned out to be the compesator.  They replaced the compesator, spring assembly, etc. and I should get my bike back when they open on Tue. (closed today and tomorrow).  The mods have not been an issue.  I've never heard of mods being an issue at any of the dealerships here in Calif. unless they've been mods that are over the top (ie. 11:1, etc.) but certainly not with what I consider street ridable mods.

I want to thank everyone for weighing in on my stealth stage 1 questions...this forum and it's members have provided me with the tools to make a wise decision. I installed the FULLSAC X-PIPE, RINEHART 4" slip-ons, SERT, and had it DYNO-tuned. I had Rinehart True Duals on my 08 Road King and really loved the sound and performance, but nothing prepared me for the awesome sound of their 4" slip-ons. I have never heard a pipe sound this good! It has a super deep throaty sound, almost like a race car. The performance difference is immediately noticeable, but is evidenced by the 125 ft. lbs of torque the bike produces on the DYNO. Wow! I couldn't be happier and I've never heard a set up that sounds better! Thanks to all
