16,000 on my 2010 SESG
« on: August 17, 2010, 09:50:16 AM »

Well I have over 16,000 on my SESG in one year....and here is what I have done so far.

1.  Removed Cat and tuned the bike...much better heat control and throttle response.
2.  Headlight replaced due to fogging
3.  Seat replaced due to gap between front of seat and tank...it's happening again.
4.  Replaced the rubber strip between inner and outer fairing twice due to buckling
5.  Back tire replaced at 10,000 miles
6.  Front tire needs replacing now.
7.  Back brakes replaced at 15,000 miles
8.  When riding home last night found the bolt for the right front mount for the saddle bag had come off...

Do I love this bike...HELL YA......

Great report on the tires. How much tread was left?

I live in NY, bought my SESG last December and have 16,800 miles on her.  Due to winter, the bike was in the garage until mid March.  No problem other than the engine heat kills me when in traffic and the paint is not as resilient as it should be.

I am heading to New River Gorge, WV in a few minutes.

Rich, what do you mean when you say the "Paint is Not as Resilient" as it should be?

I have noticed that I am getting a few (rock) chips on the front painted areas.  Additionally, the top coat seems softer than it should be making it more suscetible to scratches.

Besides removing the cat and getting it dyno tuned......following suit behind Ernie, I had Jim wrap the head pipe with exhaust wrap and then put the heat shields back on......on my wife's bike.  She says it made a huge difference on her leg.  I think I'm just not as suseptable to heat as she is.  My bike runs approx. 10F hotter than hers (both oil temps and head temps) and it just doesn't bother me at all and we're often riding in 100F + temps. :nixweiss:
