Title: Mufflers re-installed after Fullsac upgrade
Post by: sjr on November 08, 2012, 11:44:08 AM
This may be a dumb question......
I had my mufflers done by Fullsac a few months back. I re-installed them on my 2011 Convertible but I re used the original clamps.
I now have some popping on deceleration.
Dealer recommended a new tuner ($650)
A friend told me you should not re-use the muffler clamps and I probably just have an air leak because of this and do not need a tuner.

Any thoughts?

I installed new clamps when I did the Fullsac thing and had no problems. Call Steve and he can help.

Do you have a tuner on it at all?  If not, the bike needs to be retuned due to the freer-flowing exhaust.

You can reuse those $20 muffler clamps.  Even the dealers do that (when they could sell you new ones).

I have reused the clamps many times on many different vehicles.  That is not the problem, the problem is in the fuel management.  U need a tuner of sorts to fix that.  I am currently using the dobeck ejk 3gen and have been happy, doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the other tuners but it was only $125-150.  Great support from them as well.
