Title: XM radio
Post by: HOGMIKE on February 23, 2021, 05:14:24 PM
2019 cvo limited, warranty up this month.
I started getting messages on my main screen when ign is switched on and audio to subscribe to XM.

Never had it, don’t want it but can’t get rid of the ad.
NO help from Sirius at all.
Dealer is not much help either.

Anyone know how to disable XM?

I have no idea how to disable it but it is free right now if you just call for at least a couple more months if you wanted to try it. Personally I wouldn't drive or ride without it, had it for last 16 years on all our vehicles but to each his own.

Just don’t want it, even more after talking to XM customer service for over 30 minutes with no answer.
Both women on their phone were very hard to hear/understand and of NO help at all after giving them my VIN and radio ID #.

Anyone know how to disable XM?
Is this a dealer flash to enable it? If so, it should be a dealer flash to DISABLE it, right?

Remove the XM Sirius module.  It plugs into the back of the Boom Box.

You should just be able to unplug the XM module.  Do not believe flash is required, its not for CB

Take the fairing off, unplug the module and remove the antenna.  Then I would sell it.

That was the “fix” our dealer recommended.

I find it hard to believe that is the only way to “turn off” XM radio. How did it get “turned on” to start with?
My last 2 bike came with XM radio and I don’t remember having this same issue.

We have the Boom GTS, thats probably the problem.  I have had so many different issues with it that nothing surprises me.

I used the free trial period on my 19 CVO Limited and didnt renew it, I have no problems with it coming up with messages to subscribe, maybe need to select your FM radio then shut off your bike then when you turn it on it will bring up your FM rather than Sirius.

When I installed the XM module on my 2018 Tri-Glide the Boom Box recognized it automatically. No flash / update required.  No idea why it is prompting you though. No way to ‘turn it off’ afaik.

In theory it would be nice if these radios actually booted back up to the last radio input selected but we all know how well that doesn't work.

OP, does your radio have the latest updates in it?

Dealer says I do, but I’ll check myself when I get home today.

XM radio I use it in my car and on the motorcycle and I love the music is crystal clear not a lot BS talking depending the stations you use. I used to have Apple iTunes but the crystal clear music is not so with thatT  I tell Sirus XM that when bill time comes I'm just going to go back to Apple iTunes and magically the price comes way down on the cars and its only $9.00 a month on the bike which I suspend every late October and have them hook the bike back up in May.

I do the same thing but get it for $5.00 plus taxes and fees. Comes to about $78. for a year.

My last 3 years in speaking with Sirius rep when account is ready for renewal. "Sirius rep- your account is ready for renewal, as a valued customer, we can offer you a yearly subscription at $399 for the year." me-"Your satellites are orbiting the earth already, I'll offer you $59". Sirius rep-"Deal". Lol.

Not a huge fan of their channels, they seem to play older music even on newer stations. but I renew for a few reasons: Play be play sports since I live out of marked for the teams I grew up loving. Reception-I live in the NC mountains, radio is non existent, IPOD music gets old and streaming services are less reliable than radio do to lack of signal. I have yet to loose the sat signal while riding in the mountains. The only extremely painful issue is dealing with the Sirius outsourced call center.

In many different vehicles here on The Island.....reception drops out quite a bit...in the same places and in some randoms also
....and they would not give me a deal for multiple units......so....not for me.

mine are $12.76/mo for two vehicles. yes they always try to give you a jacked up rate. I just tell them if they can't match or better my old rate I'll just use pandora or I-pod.

I also use the XM on my phone and the XM webpage on the IMAC for home at no extra charge..... of course you will need to download the phone APP and the link on the computer.

You're getting it for free then?

Like many have said already, dealing with their CS just flat out sux. If it wasn't for that, I'd pay $5 a month for it.

You can pay $5.00 per month, (plus taxes and music fees) that is all I ever pay after I told them I was canceling and have a friend who is only paying that. I pay for a full year, mark my calendar and on the 364th day I call to cancel. Yes, it is a pain dealing with their C/S but I have been doing this for several years now. They absolutely have a $5. month plan.
