What's your MPG?
« on: October 09, 2013, 07:12:37 PM »

I finally had the chance to do a long shake-down run on my RG, and was curious to see what kind of mileage I was getting.  Even with the motor work, I averaged 46 mpg on this tank.  Mostly 55-65 mph, with some stop-and-go traffic stops.  Wasn't sure whether the upgrades were effective, but my mechanic came up with an effective plan that didn't reduce the effective cruising range.  Just wondered what other riders, especially with engine mods, would expect to see in regards to fuel mileage.

I always tell people who ask, "I don't check", and I really don't, but I think it's the upper 30's low 40's.

If they say that's bad, I tell them "if I want mileage,I'd of bought a Moped"!!! :apple:

Now that I've got the tune right, I'm right around 44mpg.

Sent from my iPad, probably while I'm pooping.

Just an FYI, the Aprilia scooters get 120 mpg.
And we can keep up with most traffic on the Blue Ridge Parkway!

46 mpg on a Road Glide is good.  It looks like you have lower fairings which are not helpful.  Relevant questions: What windshield?  What percentage riding with a BSR?  What weight (you and BSR)?  What type of riding?

My info:
Last summer, '09 SERG with heavy breather, Fullsac header and baffels and Andrews 54 cams:   nine days, 2,732.8 miles and 51.8 mpg.

Last month, with reworked heads, ported and polished and HD SE 259 cams and lots more power,  seven days,  1,659 miles and 49.5 mpg.

No lowers, no BSR, Cee Bailey's 14" windshield, 182 lbs.

I think if you are going to post fuel mileage numbers you should also post what model you are riding.

I'm getting 37 on a 14 Limited CVO...only have 1200 miles on it so it should get better as miles add up.

I have been averaging 48-50 MPG Highway on my 2013 CVO Roadglide Custom, I just got back from Las Vegas and filled up when I left and road all the way back to my house on one tank of gas about 290 Miles riding 65-70 MPH. I had the same results riding to and from Sturgis this year. As far as my Mods, I'm running Fullsac X-Pipe, 2.25 cores and TTS Mastertune.
As long as take it easy its great, but once I ride hard it uses gas fast.

2000 SERG basically stock.  Trip from 'Bama to SC & back loaded w/ BSR, tour pac  =  47-48 mpg.

Still pretty stock on the ol Ginger ('12 SESG).  Muffler plugs removed (only mechanical mod) and I was getting 40-42 highway w/70 average speed.  Two weeks ago I changed out my stock header to a stock header with no cat and not only did my mechanical valve sounds get quieter (less back pressure maybe?), my fuel mileage went to 46.8 under the same conditions (highway w/70 average speed).  Tune is coming soon so hope to get a bit better or at least keep the 47... ;D

I must be doing something wrong.   :nixweiss:  My '12 cuse7 is bone stock but I am hard pressed riding two up to get anything better than high 30s, maybe broke 40 on a couple occasions tooling around back roads in the 45-60 mph range.  When I do have to take to the superslab and get 'er up to 70+ my mileage goes down to about 33 mpg.

This is pretty much what I have gotten on my '07 cuse2 also.

I don't baby them to try to get better mileage but then again I don't ride 'em all that hard.  Happy with what I've got but with the price of fuel these days it would be nice to increase it.
