Chewing gum removal
« on: June 19, 2013, 04:09:54 PM »

Any suggestions on removing chewing gum from painted surfaces? I got a big string of it wrapped across my back fender and a little on the back of one saddle bag.

I have good luck with an ice cube. Rub it lightly on gum, it will fall off.

Thanks guys. I have some Goo be Gone and of course some ice. I wasn't sure about the solvent in Goo be Gone and if it would do anything to the paint or clear coat. I'll give it a shot. Also noticed some on the turn signal lens, I'll just try the ice on the plastic.

Peanut butter is the best...  You won't believe it...  Added bonus, it does not attack your paint, plastics or else....

Tried it on a leather seat, worked like a charm!

While on a group ride (CVO) that is stepped in some gum and got it on my floorboard, walked over to auto parts store nearby and bought some spry Turtle Wax bug and tar remover. Took it right off and off the bottom of my boot. Don't know if it would affect paint though. Just thought I would throw it in.

No misbehavin'. Picked it up while taking an advanced skills riding class in the parking lot of a community college. I was telling one of the other guys taking the class that he had a string of gum on the back of his bike while another was telling me the same thing. Got it off with Goo Be Gone, fresh coat of Glare and I'm good to go!
