I just did a bunch of 60,000 mile maintenance and found a major drivability issue;
I had all 3 of the hydraulic fluids flushed (for the 2nd time) and changed along with the fork tubes including of coarse the seals. While my guy was doing a minor inspection he found a nail in my front tire (which still had about 5 or 6K miles of tread left) AND one of my rear break pads was about 30 seconds from exposing its backing plate. Both were replaced.
During my trip to Nev., Az., and Ca. last month I was experiencing some major engine pinging from about 2700 to 3200 RPM. ASSuming it was mainly the temperature and maybe some crappy gas here and there, I contacted my tuner shortly after returning home to see if some adjustments could be made. I went in today to see what could be done. Nels listened patiently as I explained what I was experiencing and then went to work. After trying to correct my tune for aWhile he came out of the booth said that no matter what he did he could not adjust it out. Then he explained that it seemed to be a fuel delivery issue. He suggested a fuel filter and if that didn't fix the problem maybe a fresh set of injectors.
So after all was said and done (this was an all day ordeal because of other customers that had appointments) my 60,000 mile original fuel filter WAS the culprit! I feel like such an idiot. I know better, or at least I do now.
So...I should be all good to go...for now.
