Keep the Breakout, or sell it and get a 1967 Chevelle?
« on: June 20, 2013, 12:49:52 PM »

I have seen 2 unbelievable 1967 Chevelles for sale be me.  I have always lusted after this car since before I could drive.  The one is almost perfect....it looks like it just came off of the line.  The guy is trying to sell it and I'd love to pick it up, but the Breakout would have to go.  I don't know if I'll do anything, but I'd love to have both!

67 is my favorite year Chevelle.  If you keep the Breakout next year you will have a year old, used bike. Or you will have a Classic Muscle car that went up in value. Can you swing it so you have both?

KEEP THE BIKE!!!! A cage is a cage is a cage. Not a whole lot of personalization on a '67 (but it is a GREAT car). Just my $0.02  :bananarock:

I'd have to drain the bank account and then spend 1/2 of the remaining on the divorce.  I'd love to have both, but the Chevelle is for sale now....it might not be here in a year or so if I can save up that much.

Question is...if you *were* able to have both, which do you think would get more of your time and attention and riding/driving time?  Answer that, and you know what the choice (for you) should be.

'67 Chevelle or keep the '13 Breakout...what a quandary to have, Nicky..... :2vrolijk_21:

I've owned a couple muscle/antique cars in the past (key word is past) and they are fun vehicles.  Lots of looks, lots of fun miles, lots of maintenance, lots of trying to find original equipment and/or NOS parts that aren't made anymore and/or are expensive....sorta like owning a HD, ain't it?

Bottom line if you can't have both.  Consider that it sounds like you've been wanting the Chevelle for years.  The Breakout, just last September (or so).  If you get the Chevelle and have to sell the breakout, something tells me you could wait a few years and get another '13 CVO Breakout from someone that stored it in their garage, no miles and MUCH less than it was new.  Then you still have the Chevelle, your breakout (again) and a happy wife....win-win-win.... :2vrolijk_21:

Nicky, if your proposed future Chevelle sends shivers down the ol' spine like that picture Greg posted, that ought to settle it for you.... :coolblue:

I was wondering why you had mentioned selling the bike in another thread.  Now it's clear, however I would have to figure out how to do both!

Although, I guess it's easy for me to say, my dream car is paid off and tucked away in the garage.

Thats called "Livin' the Dream"!  I love the bike (although I wish there was no paint issues!), but the 1967 Chevelle is something I don't know if I love....I've never owned and old car.

OMG, are you serious?  The Breakout, like the other softails are going to drop in value like a rock.  The Chevelle on the other hand will only appreciate.

Sell the Breakout, get the Chevelle, then buy another Breakout in a couple of year for 1/2 of what you'll sell yours for now.

This is a no brainer.

CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR GET THE FREAKING CAR (but don't ask about putting it on a dyno ??? )    :huepfenlol2:

Actually.... Have you don't the due diligence on the car?  Check the data plate and make sure it's a real SS.  That'll also tell you if colors have been changed or other major options (if it has any) have been added on or taken off.  But if the car is sweet and everything it's supposed to be jump on it!

I'd say keep the Breakout.
Only because the Chevelle Forums are not equipped to handle a thread with 10,000 post about what pipes to put on a Chevelle.

Chevelle get my vote.  In a couple of years you'll see plenty of Breakouts for sale at a reduced price with all the extras already done.  That Chevelle won't come around very often and will always be going up in value now.

I've seen you do this not too long ago when you dumped your Street Glide on the HDForums. After you get the Chevelle, a new toy will catch your eye and you'll dump it for that. Why ask anyone what they think when you are going to do it anyway??? Why even bother buying any of these gadgets? You spend more time trading/selling them off then driving them  :nixweiss:

It is a defect in my DNA for sure.  After helping a friend work on his 68 impala, the hot rod bug bit....then I got determined.  Nothing is going to end up happening because this Chevelle was local....so I didn't have to travel.  I also knew the history of the car, it was completely restored to factory original.

I'm gonna go ride my bike....
