On page 65 of the June 2004 issue of American Iron Magazine there is an advertisement for the new Screamin' Eagle 6-speed transmission.
-
Without having seen the photo that you refer too......my guess is it's not an 05 SEEG.
-
JCZ, I agree with you, there's probably no way they would've intentionally stuck an '05 SEEG in the ad. Still, it seems peculiar to see what is so obviously a SEEG, yet not in SEEG colors and also to be part of a 6-speed transmission ad. Maybe they are just teasing us?
I will try to scan the ad this weekend and post, unless someone else beats me to it.
-
If they follow suit from previous versions, the bike will be about the same...except for small tweaks and color schemes. I would bet that it is the '05, but just primer grey or neutral, because the only obvious change IS the paint from year to year of the same bike. Other changes, like the 6-speed, wouldn't necessarily be obvious except if you knew exactly what to look for.
-
gotta disagree with ya on that Doc, 02serk 95" cable clutch 03serk 103" hydraulic clutch
-
Scan of the ad coming in about 2 hours from now. Gotta run out to the 'rent's house to use the scanner. I would buy one myself, but that's a Hundred-Dollars I could be spending on something that has a bar & shield on it instead. Stay tuned . . .
-
Here it is. Comments anyone?
-
Interesting.....looks like it has the three spoke wheels, too.....and no rear crash bar. Now if that's it, I'll keep my Cobalt Blue and Black SEEG [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
-
Darn sure looks like a SEEG... wheels, passing light brackets, oil cooler, mirrors, front axle end caps, etc. Time will tell!
-
Maybe it's the new stealth paint job with Radar Signature Reducing coating!
Will the six speed be made for the Hyd Clutch, will we 04 SEEG owners be able to upgrade...and at what cost!
-
And it just might be a five speed being used in an ad.... [smiley=laugh.gif]
-
I think, which could be dangerous, that there is a chance that could be an '05. I love specultion and the debate it brings about.
Though I have seen in the past, in catalogs and in Harley advertisements where color schemes, Harley Radical and Select paint jobs have been on bikes in pics before it was announced or avaliable for sale. Just my .02. You never know.
-
I got the magazine in today's mail and showed it to my wife at lunch time. Her reply "so somebody has already painted theirs.....what's the big deal?" lol Then she went on to say "besides can't you order all that stuff out of the catalog now?" Out of the mouths of Babes............ [smiley=laugh.gif]

That's fine, but somebody would've had to go to A LOT of work and expense to do either one (paint their SEEG a new color, or add all the stuff to an EG Standard that it would take to pull this picture off), and for what reason?
I mean number one, why paint a limited production bike that has a very unique custom paint job on it straigth from the MoCo, and number two, if you were going to customize another bike, why would you do everything the same as the SEEG? I zoomed in on my scan and this bike even has the saddlebag lid trim on it, so it appears from what you can see in the photo that no SEEG detail was overlooked.
I have no idea what we're seeing here, but it is fun to speculate on the possibilities. I just thought it was very ironic to see this ad after the recent discussion on this board about changes for the '05s, including paint and 6-speed transmissions. It's almost as if someone's messin' with us!
-
103thunder I agree with you and Rick......the speculation, suspense, suspecion....it's all entertaining and fun.
-
Hey ain't that what its all about. [smiley=1syellow1.gif]
-
I don't think it is a 05 SEEG because it looks like it has a black motor. All CVOs have the silver and chrome motor. Somebody (being the MOTOR Co) has gone a long way though to make it look identical to the SEEG.
-
Dang, how can you tell the motor color?!
-
Now that's not to say that this bike is a "Test Mule" and was used to test the components of the FLHTCSE thus the simularities to our bike...

Bingo.....John you're the grand prize winner! Don't know what you won (LOL)....but that may be a real possability since they try to camaflauge.

Imagine a SEEG with a brandywine paint scheme, kinda like the 02 Road King, which, in my opinion, is one of the best looking paint schemes HD has ever made, then click on this link....

MoChrome, you and I are on the same page.I agree that the 02 road king ..brandy and wine is one of the best looking bikes out there.I would be happy with that color for 2005.
(In my opinion the cvo bikes always had the nicest colour schemes in their first year..so I am a little worried)..but they are all nice.
-
Hey Guys! - Who knows for sure, but my two cents worth...if you look 1/3 the way up the left fork leg it looks like the "accordian" cover for the standard clutch adjuster...so, I don't think the '05 SEEG would go backwards and not have the hydraulic clutch. What does my theoryt prove? Nothing! You know what? We're all obseesed...why the hack else would we spend so much time trying to figure out this mystery bike anyway?
-
PJ, I'm pretty sure those are the engine's cooling fins. However, that doesn't change the fact that we are all a bunch of freaks! [smiley=beerchug.gif] [smiley=bigok.gif] [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Not to rain on the parade but, if you look at the short history of CVO scooters, they usually don't make major changes from one year to the next just new color selections. With the Road King being the exception to the rule. (sorry but the best possible colors have already been used for SEEG, you know ORANGE and BLACK). So you might want to set your expectations accordingly!!! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]
