Trap Door Bearings
« on: April 25, 2016, 12:30:31 PM »

Like a lot of people I know the transmissions in our bikes are very noisy. Since rebuilding my motor and upgrading just about everything in the primary everything is very quite on my bike EXCEPT the transmission. The bearings in the trap door are enclosed in plastic I believe and I was wondering if anyone in the aftermarket has come up with anything better. I don't know if this could help with the noise coming from the trans but it sure couldn't hurt. I'm not even sure if it is possible to up grade these bearings at all. So has anyone here looked into this or even made some kind of change?

When I installed the Baker Cruise Drive Smooth Shift Kit, I also installed the George's Garage chrome trap door with stronger and upgraded bearings. I believe the bearing part number is HD 8992A. Very smooth and quiet set-up to handle 124 performance.

I have a Rivera Primo 6 sp O.D. gearset with almost 60k miles still quiet and shifts smooth.  Fantastic bang for the Buck. I highly recommend them. The local shop has installed many with any problems even on big inch TC motors.  I haS&S a big S&S V111.
