I would have bought the Lava orange in Sept 2017 had it come all blacked out.  It did not so I bought the Gunship Gray, which was all blacked out.

That looks like it should have from the factory in my opinion.  Looks great.

I like the look of "blacked out", but I have always wondered how the blacked components hold up over time as compared to the chrome finish.  Wear and tear and washings and such...  Any long term results to share by anyone?

Great question. I can attest to the wear on my buddies '12 skunk black painted parts, mainly the black heads and covers. They have held up well so far but as they have heat cycled over the years, they develop a "haze" that can be cleaned BUT has become increasingly harder to remove. The timing cover in particular with the heating of the engine and exposure to the exhaust has taken its toll. Still black but looks like a foggy black now. I would assume the black painted exhaust on other models would suffer with continued heating/cooling cycles as well. One thing is no chipping or pealing of the painted parts after 7 years. Hope this helps a bit... ;D

Black fork legs is where I have had the biggest issue on my blacked out bikes.  Really noticeable on my 18 CVO RG with 24K on it.

i have the blacked out highway pegs.  i find that they get hazy after a couple of years.  being down so low and right there getting hit with road spray, debris, etc.  chrome definitely cleans up easier.  but, my black covers (heads, primary, etc) still look great.

CJ Cycle, are you planning to swap out the wheels for the all black wheels?

I may take them off and have them powder coated also.  I have to see if I can get the emblems if I do that.  If not, I will probably leave them.  They actually look good with the cyls & heads that have the chrome on them.  Also still have the chromed rotors on the front wheels.
