So I picked the 2015 up today from the dealer, love the bars, but now I'm blind. Can't see the side mirrors
Is there some type of lowering kit for the mirrors or relocation or something
-
I went with handle bar mounted mirrors and removed the fairing mounted. Then I moved my tweeters to the mirror holes in the fairing. I purchased oil temperature and fuel gauges to mount in the old tweeter locations.

As Cowboy Bagger stated you'll need handle bar mounted mirrors. You can also buy chips or covers to fill in the stock mirror hole as another option when you remove the stock mirrors.
-
Im amazed no one makes a raised or lowered extension, seems like an inexpensive alternative to buying mirrors
-
You will be much happier with mirrors at mount on the bars. I had the holes filled and painted. Looks great. Never was a fan of the fairing mirrors ever. Just sayin.
-
will any mirror work, can they be mouned updside down, I don't like the idea of the mirrors sticking that high above the fairing
-
You could always go with taller bars. ;)
-
I have 12 " apes on mine, I have no issue with not being able to see the mirrors. Did you get the HD bars? the Kustom mayhem bagger bars are shaped differently.

I recently removed my SG mirrors. I really liked them but I had to kind of duck my head down or move my arm a bit to get a full look in the mirror. I found some bar mounted mirrors that I like and I had them on the top of the handlebars for awhile like this;
(http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg579/jswerve1974/Facebook/Sturgis%202015/11794397_1070572849621876_7332126829938272042_o_zpsrre0dpbh.jpg) (http://s1244.photobucket.com/user/jswerve1974/media/Facebook/Sturgis%202015/11794397_1070572849621876_7332126829938272042_o_zpsrre0dpbh.jpg.html)
But my OCD got the best of me and I couldn't bear to see them sticking up 1 more minute so I moved them under the bars like this;

No more bug antenna sticking up above my fairing. In addition to being ugly, it also sucked cleaning all the bugs off of the mirrors.

Cowboy Bagger... Could you post a pic of your mod to fairing

I have 12" Yaffee bars on mine and I can see my fairing mounted mirrors just fine. I'm 5'-8" tall and my bars are mounted as far forward as I could without rubbing. I like my bars forward.

Willy the Yaffee 12" MB or more like 14", especially with them all the way forward.

I had heard they were taller than 12" but even drooping on the bars I can still see out of the fairing mirror.
Might be because I'm 5'-8". I can see it might be a problem if someone was taller though.
Plus, I'm too cheap to buy Yaffe's fancy little mirror plugs. ;D

Hi:
I'm not exactly a big fan of this look, but Mother Harley has this new product.
http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/windshield-trim-mirror-mounting-kit (http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/windshield-trim-mirror-mounting-kit)
Replaces (or adds) fairing trim and a mirror mounts. Of course, then you also need to buy standard mirrors.
IMO some stealthy units hanging under your bars and some plugs in the fairing are the way to go if you just can't see with the fairing mounts.
Good Luck.

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Here is a few pictures of what I did. After putting on the Yaffee bars, I couldn't see out of the fairing mirrors at all. I bought some Yaffee knock off mirrors for 30 bucks. Then I needed to decide what to do with the holes in the fairing. I was wanting to upgrade my sound system (hard to hear the stock system with Drago pipes), so I upgraded to all Hybrid Audio Technology speakers and a 750 watt amp and Sony Marine head unit. I also wanted to add the Dakota Digital Gauges and really wanted the fuel and oil temp gauges. So, I put my new HAT tweeters in the mirror holes. Installed the Dakota Digital oil temp and fuel gauges where the tweeters were. All problems solved.

CowboyBagger..... Thanks for posting, they look great. I've never heard of Hybrid Audio Technology.... How do they sound?
-
They are extremely good speakers. I went with the medium priced style, which were still high. Tiff2, told me about them, come to think of it, I haven't seen him on here in several months. I got the head unit and big amp through Biketronics.
The pictures were taken before I learned how to change the head unit from blue to red lights.

I'm here brother ... always watching :) (lol)
Need a favor if you get the chance. I want to do apes on mine over the winter but having trouble picking a set. I think I want to do 14's but I also like the width of the stockers. Can you measure tip-to-tip on your grips and let me know how wide the Yaffee bars are?
Thanks in advance ...

Rich,
Just got home, I'll measure today and get back with you. If my memory is right, I believe they are as wide or a little wider than the stock bars.

The GPS mount is a Harley dash mount. Same that is standard on the Ultra.

Rich,
My bars measure 36 5/8 inch from tip to tip. The 12" Yaffee's are more like 13.5", when comparing to other brands.

I have the 12" Yaffe Monkey Bars on mine & can finally see with the stock mirrors. I know they are more than 12", closer to 14's maybe a little less but I really like them & have no trouble seeing the mirrors.

Hoop, you must have eight foot arms to have your bars shoved so far forward. I like mine rolledback so I don't have to reach for them when I lean back against the backrest in the lazy-boy position with my feet on the highway pegs. Of course at 5'10, I'm a long way from having 8' arms!!

Thanks man ...
Stock bars are a little more narrow
I'm looking at a set of BR Bars as I can't find any others that are not 35" plus tip to tip. I put a set of Assault bars from Factory 47 on the Fatboy but they don't have them for the batwing. I really appreciate you posting the measurements!!

That's pretty funny Cowboy, I'm 5'8 & no I don't have 8' arms!! I could roll them back a little but I like them where they are, I'm not uncomfortable at all & really like how the bike feels & handles.

Hoop,
I've been admiring your bike, the best model year!! I've been thinking of changing my pipes, it looks like you have a good looking set of true duals. What brand is the head pipe and the cans? I can't tell by the pictures. I've always heard that true duals are a lot harder to tune, they have the best sound and the best heat reduction. Was there any negative in the way of performance?

Cowboy
Hey Cowboy,
Thanks for the compliment pertaining to my bike.
Well, the entire exhaust system is V&H. I had the head pipes ceramic coated by a company called NitroPlate & they did a really nice job & after four years have yet to change color.
As far as tuning I can't really say about difficulties between true dual & 2 into 1, I just have a map downloaded into the Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner which seems fine to me. I'm sure that putting it on a dyno would improve it even more but I spent 10 years on a NHRA Pro Stock team & chasing numbers again just doesn't really interest me anymore although if I did make changes that needed the services of a good tuner & dyno operator I wouldn't hesitate to have that done.
I do know that the difference between the old catalytic converter stock pipe & the true dual is night & day as far as being much cooler than stock & is also quite a bit louder & much better sounding.
As far as performance there is a loss of torque with a true dual setup.......I always hear people say that there isn't any back pressure with a true dual but what you really don't have is a scavenging effect of the other exhaust side as one or the other exhaust helps to pull stagnant gases from the other without the crossover or as with a 2 into 1. I personally don't think it's something that could be felt in the seat of the pants but there's always the possibility that it could be.
I keep kicking around the idea of a D&D 2 into 1 but like I said, I'm not chasing numbers anymore.
I love my bike & enjoy it very much, I bought it to ride, not race so I'm completely happy as it is!!
Well, for now, Lol :orange:

Thanks Hoop, I've got a Drago's 2 into 1 that makes the bike run great but after a few hours on a long haul, the noise level starts to work on a guy. I had true duals on an older bike and it's by far a better sounding exhaust and let the bike run a little cooler in my opinion. I'm just kicking around the idea of going back to a true dual.
Thanks,
Cowboy
-
I'd much rather hear the radio than an exhaust all day . Time to get out the credit card Cowboy. You won't be sorry. I usually try to keep in front of other riders with a 2 into1. Less advil for me at the end of the day. :huepfenjump3:
