02 FXDWG3 Windshield and Saddlebag Help!!!
« on: March 04, 2009, 01:34:41 PM »

I got my WG3 about a year ago and it's time for a windshield. A buddy gave me his windshield that he had off his DWG (not CVO) and it wouldn't fit right. Also, the mounting hardware I have PN 58164-96A wouldn't work either. I read an old post on this topic and it sounds like I need the super sport windshield PN 57965-97A and hardware PN 58350-96. Also, I don't like (no offense) the fairing so I ride without it. Will I still need to cut out the winshield just to get around the headlamp? Any tips or recommendations are GREATLY appreciated.

Lastly, anybody who has installed saddlebags on their ride please let me know what you think of the ones you have (pics are great too.)

Thanks!

I took my fairing off both of my DWG2/3 bikes.  It actually made more wind IMO.

You shouldn't have to do any cutting as far as I know beyond the stock windshield.  Why wouldn't the ones you have mount, it shows they should?

The parts catalog shows they should fit even the 91820-85A, should work.

You can check here:

http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=27725.0

for photos of bags for DWG's and photos of windshield project. If you removed the mini fairing you should not have to alter the quick release windshield to use it. It makes a huge difference in my opinion. I know Boss bags makes the bags I got in black and they are way better built than any other bag I have seen.

Okay guys, this windshield is killing me. Got the mounting hardware and it has those 2" long bolts that you're supposed to move and attach your turn signals to. The bushing for the windshield is supposed to be secured by this long turn signal extension. My turn signals aren't in the way now, and I don't want to move them and use the extensions but that is the only way according to the HD instructions. Am I missing something here or do I need to go get another two bolts that will work but weren't included in the parts kit? Does anybody have any pics of how they mounted this hardware? It should be so easy, I don't know why it's creating such a headache. Thanks!

Right click on the pic in your pic and send to email recipient.  Windows will ask if you want to reduce the file and click yes.  It should downsize it to a size that you can post.
