Need some Help Ipod question
« on: July 09, 2007, 10:59:37 AM »

Can anyone tell me where to get the wire that goes into the AUX input on front of the radio when hooking up a IPOD, I have seen them before and thought it was a dealer item but today I was told its not. I think it has a 90 degree end and the side plugs into the IPOD is straight, I have been to radio shack and they dont sell them.

Thanks

Check w/this company - The Sound Professionals. I purchased a cord from them for my Zumo that has two 90 degree bends in it. They have different lengths/ends of several cords.

Thanks, any idea what I would be looking for, I am not sure which would be the right one. What I want to do is have the plug with the 90 degree come out the side of the radio run the the other end behind the fairing down and come across the crash bar and into the lower where I would keep the IPOD. hope this makes sense.

This is the one I used - SOUND PROFESSIONALS - GOLD PLATED 3.5MM (1/8 INCH) RIGHT ANGLE STEREO PATCH CABLE. I purchased the 1 meter length to run thru the clutch hole inside the fairing and out the other side. You might want to go a little longer if you have to run it much further then I had to run mine. You can see pictures of the install of my Zumo here - Standard GPS or Garmin - implementation. I would look at the style cord I got and see if you can find something in a 90 degree end on one end, and the straight end on the other.

I got my cord at the Apple store however a short time after I git it a friend showed me this componet that plugs into the bottom of the Ipod and  you adjust it to 88.1, 88.2 - 89. something and what you do is turn your radion to the matching number and the Ipod plays through the radio with no wires. Cost was  something like $40.00 but the best part was I can take it in any vehicle and apply the same thing. Purchased at Radio Shack

This is what I use:

http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/airclick/

I run a long cable into the tour pack and hook it up to the iPod through this. Then I mount the remote on my handlebars. It has the same buttons and features except you don't have the screen to look at. Works great for me because I can't see the screen while riding, lest I'll have an accident. I'm sure there are other similar products from other companies out there too.

After wearing out the earphone jack on my iPod from vibration, I decided to go with a cable that pugs into the bottom of the iPod instead of the earphone jack.  I get better quality and more volume as an added bonus.

Good find. I'll keep it in mind when mine wears out too. What do you think about their discount price?

I think you missed the joke, go back to the page and check out the "Was" price, the "US Dollars" price, and the "Savings" amount.
Then again, maybe you didn't miss the joke, and as ususal I'm off out in left field somewhere.
