Mark, this new amp came up here once before:

http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=18488.0

Dude described it.  If I remember correctly both Bob and Cobalt at least talked about trying it out.  So you might have insights available from those that have already been there and done that.

You don't have the Hawg Wired on the Ultra?

Put the PSC 1502 on Nancy's bike and what a difference.

Night and day, black and white difference from stock.

I went with the DSC 1202 for the SERG with the CX speakers.
I'm of the opinion that a RG style fairing gives a better sound than a EG style fairing.
Thats why I went with the 120 on the SERG instead of the 150 like on her Classic.
Plus it's easier.

I haven't done the tunes.  We use the headsets a lot, but with the SEEG I may ride solo a bit more and the upgrade would get used much more for sure.

The plan started as the nanner at the new house and the SEUC at the lake, but it is starting to look like both may be at the new house for riding season so guests would have a ride too.  The FXDWG3 will definitely be at the new house as well......being a bar bike the Brick tavern is only 5 miles away and a definite destination for a bar bike.

The Brick Tavern - both historically interesting as the oldest operating tavern under a single name in Washington and a common scene filmed in Northern Exposure. It is located on the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 2nd Street. It is also on the national historic registry.

I purchased the CX speakers from Jim (Hd-dude).  They replaced the Hogtunes.  Hogtunes are fine, but the upgrade to the CX speakers is equal to the upgrade from the stock speakers to the Hogtunes.

I now have the HWired plug and play amp with the CX speakers.  I also added V&H TD headpipes and some other goodies and got everything from one supplier.  Feel like a heel from not buying the amp from Jim, but I didn't this time.

The 120 amp and the CX speakers sound great and puts out more sound at less volume used on the dial.  Easy install of both.  The hardest thing to do on the 05 and 04 bikes is to find the original speaker wire harnesses that are non amplified that are tucked away inside the fairing.  Using those wires means you are not using the radio amp any longer.

I have this system and even installed it myself....You would have to understand the limits of my mechanical ability to really appreciate the last comment.

Anyway, the sound much better than stock, especially when you need to crank the volume at speed.  I got mine from HD-Dude as well.  He was great.  I forgot to get the "dummy module" as my new bike does not have XM from the factory. ( I am adding it with my GXM receiver to go along with my Zumo 550).

You won't be dissappointed.  Easy install and a great value for the buck.

Let us know if you order it and what you think.

Hey, Boatman (or anyone else), how did you modify the fairing support brackets to get the CX speakers to fit?  That magnet is HUGE! :nixweiss:

The parts themselves "tell" you what's needed.  It's just a bit of body and fender work.

Thanks for the photo, Don.  I figured some mild "coaxing" was involved. :o ;D  Just wasn't sure if they'd still end up being able to reach the other end after the manipulation that's required to get them around the magnet.

The quality of these speakers over the Hog Tunes is incredible!  They appear to be an extremely well-made piece.  If they sound half as good as they look, it'll be tough to keep myself from replacing the Hog Tunes in the SERG that I just swapped in from the SEEG. ???

They are nice Brian.  It's not that they're any great amount louder.  A bit.  But the loudness thing is the huge gain made from stock to upgrades.

You gain a bit overall with these.  The even greater gain is clarity.  You hear things (clearly) in areas that weren't even just distorted before.  They just weren't there.

Hey, Boatman (or anyone else), how did you modify the fairing support brackets to get the CX speakers to fit?  That magnet is HUGE! :nixweiss:

Brian-

The brackets bend a lot easier than it looks and surprising still line up with the bolt holes on each end.  I just squeezed gently with a medium size pair of channel locks and pliers.  Kind of held the brace with the pliers as a support and bent with the channel locks.  It didn't take that much bending to gain the 1/16" clearance I have.  Don provided a good reference picture.  Bob

Is there any downside to adding the extra 'weight' of the hugh magnet spkrs. to the fairing?   Fairing supports are already breaking and extra weight on the handlebars could cause other problems, huh?  :-\  spyder

Spyder, that thought occurred to me, too, but no one's got more weight inside an Electra Glide fairing than Don does, and the only thing he's correcting problems with all the time is his motor and clutch :P , not his fairing brackets, so I figure we're good to go! ;D

I wish you hadn't used the 'Red Bike'  to make your point on this perceived 'worry' of mine......it may not be through 'shucking' parts yet.   :nervous:  spyder

The parts themselves "tell" you what's needed.  It's just a bit of body and fender work.

OK, the bending of the bracket part of this deal was child's play thanks to the photo from Don and technique from Bob.  Now then, where did you guys mount the cross-overs?  I'm thinking of mounting them to the top of the speaker pod/grille.  On the right (as you're viewing it) side, my HID headlight ballast is in the way of the place where you'd probably normally think of putting them.

I did a search for the thread where Don has a photo of the inside of his fairing, but I can't find it. :nixweiss:

For a long time I had mine above the speakers as illustrated here.  Worked fine with no clearance issues.

Then later moved them down here.

The HawgWired amp failed and the company replaced it.  The successor model had miniaturized to combine the outboard amps seen above in to the main unit in the middle.  That left the brackets I suspend from the support brackets with an open side.  HID modules on one side speaker components on the other.

Oh, and not intending to jinx anything; but the clutch seems to have broken in nicely now.  Only question remaining will be whether or not it slips a bit on the dyno when the time comes.

I've not got it to do so on the street (could with the stock part even though the plates looked very good).  But have the lighter recommendation of the various ranges of springs installed of those supplied with the kit.  So can easily make it better if need be.

I mounted mine on the top as in Don's 1st picture.  He sure has no room for anything else under there though.   :cherry:

Bob, those pics didn't include the harness and relay pack for power saddlebag locks ::) .
