As opposed to removing the baffles completely for more sound how about shortening the stock baffle or increasing the hole size in them?

That's an option if you want to increase the sound volume.

Larry seems to be interested in going that direction.

No mistake I like some sound and am quite satisfied with them as they are. They are not quiet to say the least and border on the edge of needing to be modified to be quieter. IMO
