Amen to that Chip. 'Twas a major PITA to install w/ the trim. It will probably end up w/ the 1/2 doz. other various shields in the parts box.

Was afraid of that--I have been working so still have not tried it out. I am 5'7' though so it might be a bit better for me......I hope. I also installed a reach seat which is supposed to drop me a inch or so from stock height.
Seems like a guy is getting a great collection of shields from all this BS. :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

Slight recurve(less than most I've seen)
It comes with its own gasket
12" from center screw to top.

How was the install,PIA or easy ...

Install was a piece of cake with the gasket that came with it.
Actually it was too easy now that I think about it..........Hope I got it on right ;D

Happy to report that I was able to take it out for a short burn today and I must say I am impressed. I am 5 foot 7 inch and installed the reach seat (about 1 inch lower and 1 inch closer to tank than stock seat) with the HD windsplitter and I like it alot. At 80+ MPH I can still hear the stereo and there is minimum buffeting. I ride with a half helmet and there is no pounding of the eardrums either.  It is a keeper for me. :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

Temp is around 5 to 10 degrees c. What the hell is going on with you guys , 27 degrees in April :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:  Someone pizzed off the global warming guys and he is out to get youz.. :-[ enjoy

Washed last weekends bugs off the bike Friday, just head down to Lethbridge on the 24 Highway and you will hit some bugs just past Carsland.  :2vrolijk_21:

Hi,

I just got one of these windshields and I have an installation question.  Do I remove the original thick rubber wind deflector gasket and use just the thin gasket that comes with the new windshield or do I need to use both together?  I tried using just the thin gasket but it seems to keep coming down off the windshield in the middle when I ride.  Before I try a little dab of adhesive I want to make sure that I'm correct in using just the thin gasket.

So far I do like it.

Thanks!

I used the one that came with it. Fits ok but does not want to stay in place and a touch of adhesive does help keep it in place. I removed the old one and set it aside....for when the stock windshield goes back on.

Thanks!  That's what I figured, but it's always better to ask than screw something up.  I guess I'll use a few drops of glue in the center where the gasket works loose.

Is anyone running the new H-D Wind Splitter windshield? What's your opinion of it?
