2024 CVO Models
« on: December 02, 2023, 03:27:50 PM »

Has anyone been chatting with the pool boy yet?

Any idea of what the CVO models will be for 2024?

Is the CVO Limited coming back?

Is a CVO Heritage finally here?

Possibly a price drop to help move them out???  One can only hope.

Just wondering.

I have only heard one utterance, but it was about a super shiny dirt bike.... so far, nothing to substantiate it....

Well if there is a CVO Pan America Special, I wonder if it just comes with the extras like the painers and top case?  Will it have fancy paint and such and be more road oriented?  Sure wouldn't want to take one with a fancier paint job off road.  In know I have dropped mine more than once.

My thoughts on a CVO adventure bike prolly doesn't need to be heard. If I was 20 years younger I’d consider a PanAm but not a CVO PanAm.

I have a GSA that will be up for replacement next year.  It's my Rally bike, so it sees a lot of miles, and they are mostly highway.  The reason I'm not looking toward the Pan Am yet is that it competes with the GS (non Adventure), and the bigger tank not only provides more range, it provides a TON more weather protection.  I don't think I would select a CVO model to replace it either, because how much it gets abused.  I am kinda hoping that the CVO will introduce a larger tank to match the 7.9 on the GSA, that would then trickle down to a pedestrian PanAm.

I do wish Harley would have come out with this earlier.  I was 58 when I bought mine in 2021.  This bike will wear you out off road.  I spent 5 days in CO at 10,000 feet and above riding it off road 8 hours a day.  I was spent at the end of each day, it's physically demanding.  This bike is a blast on road and fun off road.

Okay, your assessment does make sense.  A bigger tank would be nice for rally purposes or if your primary purpose was on road.

A CVO Road Glide ST strikes me as strange.  I thought the ST was placed between the Special and the CVO.  It's supposed to be a performance oriented bagger.  I also find it strange there is no Special.

We will see for sure on Wednesday what is going on.

Heres a picture. Not a CVO worthy paint, but at least it has the "Screamin' Eagle"
like the original 2000 and then the 2009.

I just noticed the eagle and was going to mention it too. :D

It looks like they're playing the Carbon Fiber card with these.  Seat cowl, front fender, tank console...

Never understood that short and in my opinion useless windshield.  I hope that is gray on white and not some pale yellow.  May be just room lighting causing the color.

Here in Toronto, Canada at Pfaff H.D. they are giving a in house $4000 rebate on a 2023 CVO SG, silver. Could be a nice savings if the 2024 is similar. As I read this I find it so weird that a new CVO is still on the floor and the new ones are coming out. I put a deposit 6 months in advance just to get the opportunity to buy one before they hit the floor.

Carbon fiber=Italian Chrome!  At least that is what we use to say in the Ducati World and we didn't always paint over it because it was nice to look at.  I don't get it in the Harley world though, how much weight are u saving over the plastic and paper thin metal on those few / little bits on a bike that weighs over 800 pounds? Maybe on a stripped down race bike but not on a stock street setup.  Also I'd question if the ground up compressed set up is as strong as a weave layup - at least un-painted the weave set up is nice to look at.

I do like that the Eagle is back.  Hopefully the Carbon Fiber bits are of the weave type, as said earlier its nice to look at.  I don't think we are talking more than 15 pounds in weight savings.  My guess is this will be at a price over the CVO Road Glide.

The original first gen Road Glides from 2000 weren't too bad either...  It's just really hard to knock the look of a bike that looks that good stock though.

Kinda shows that the creativity has pretty much disappeared from MoCo. Back in 2018 when they were selling single colored CVOs started the big slide.

Same VVT cam cover but not a VVT engine. Brochure states this 121 is tuned for higher horsepower than the VVT version.

The exposed carbon fiber should have been the weave, it looks great on my corvette.  This to me looks unfinished.  It is the 25th anniversary of the CVO.  I like most everything about the ST but the way they did the Carbon Fiber.  Interesting that the 121 is not VVT, and they claim more power.  Usually VVT is for more power and a wider power range.

They also made the 117 to look like the VVT with the cam cover, but its not VVT.

No CVO Street Glide, guess they know you cant build a high performance bagger and govern it to 100 mph  LOL

ST no longer exists out side of the CVO.

Head set is now Cardio, Sena is no longer.  WHIM is built in.  No NAV from factory unless you buy a CVO.  Apple car play will give you NAV if you connect a Head set.  Google no longer supports motorcycles so that wont work for NAV.  You can buy NAV from the HD parts counter.

This CEO really sucks.

All this makes me wonder if this stuff was really "leaked" or more of a controlled "leak" to get the blood pumping in the dead of winter.

That new CVO color for the Road Glide non-ST must be called Skidmark Brown Pearl

Looks good.  But really nothing new at all in the design.  1 has been used on CVO and non CVO.  Orange and black is done often.  It will sell well but I would like to see something new.

Just saw all of the 2024 bikes including the new CVO's.   Not impressed at all.   Sadly, I think the Motor Company has lost it way.  The CVO Road Glide (orange+black) looks sharp but, not at that price point.

Yup, exactly what he said ^  No CVO Ultra again.  Just my opinion, but in the beauty stakes, the RG is the ugly sister. :-(

Loved my '15 CVO RG ULTRA but it rode like a slug compared to my BMW. Still, hoping to go back to Harley and they have improved. At $50K, however, no.  :nixweiss:

Same VVT cam cover but not a VVT engine. Brochure states this 121 is tuned for higher horsepower than the VVT version.

Sent from my SM-N981U using Tapatalk
According to the information on Harleys website. The 121 H.O. or non VVT is 127 HP and 145 torque, compared to the 121 VVT at 115 HP and 139 torque.

I thought your post was joking, but I see that jacket really is $2400!  Whoever thought that price up has to be two steaks short of a barbeque!   Who in their right mind would buy one at that price.  Seems to be the current MoCo pricing trend though, pick a number, then treble it and we'll call that a bargain....

Price of that jacket is insane.  Heck I choke on 700 for a good jacket.

I think the CVO ST will sell well.  Love the white one, love the adjustable suspension Front and Rear.

I think the CVO ST will sell well.

I'm sure it will Dave, but I think the current ludicrous prices on all Harleys will change the [majority - obviously there are exceptions] ownership model from we enthusiasts to RUBs who just want to say "look at me, see how much money I have to spend on toys" while doing a couple of hundred miles a year.  I won't buy another new HD (after 6 new ones, 5 of them CVO Ultras) because the prices are simply taking the mickey, for unreliable and (in my opinion only) progressively uglier, progressively less well equipped, motorcycles of which they allow the purchasers to be the beta testers.  Could I afford one?  Certainly - my garage is full of expensive machinery.  But I could buy a decent car for considerably less than a CVO Harley, which wouldn't need a water pump in 15000 miles, wouldn't have engine oil transferring to the primary, etc, etc., and wouldn't need to be governed to 99mph to stop me crashing it.  Add to that the increasing quantity of cheap Chinese parts on a Harley, and the MoCo's well proven ability to deny that all the common problems exist, not issue recalls when they should, unless forced to, and my conclusion is that they are progressively biting the hand that feeds them.  Watch out for them switching to direct online sales and missing out the dealer network entirely for new bike sales; I bet that's in their plans. Bottom line - NO motorcycle is worth HD's prices, or even close to it.  Just my 2c of course.....

Dave: agree, BUT…

I’d like to see more improvements on the suspension. The new remote reservoir rear shocks are made by Showa and are mounted a little differently than the Ohlins setup. Not as clean IMHO.
It would be nice to see the Ohlins setup front and rear at least on the “premium “ CVO. The technology is there for electronic control from the dash.
The weight loss is nice, a new frame would help even more especially the swingarm. The stock one is really heavy!

My present 2019 cvo is still a little ahead of the curve compared to the new bikes. I’ll keep it, it’s paid for and for less $$ than a new one!
Maybe I’m getting old? Naw. I DO enjoy my 24 year old softail

NOT TO DERAIL THIS TREAD BUT...

"Fast Johnny" is a real-life guy.

He grew up in the hood of Compton and was king of the street racing bagger crew. He later became a Harley drag racer and continues to still race.

If you check out "2LaneLife" videos on YT, they had a pretty damn good video where they interviewed Fast Johnny. He is a survivor of some sick sexual abuse at the age of 7 years old.

I have a lot of respect for him and had no idea he had to go through all that stuff. That video on "2LaneLife" was the first time he announced that publicly.

Eqcons,  You have several valid points.  Especially about the customer being the Beta testers, and we were for the 2007, 110, the 14 GT head unit, the 17 M8, the 18 GTS head unit, the 21 Pan America, and the 23 CVO.  Prices have gone nuts and features have been removed.

Mike, I would have liked a new frame, and swing arm with improved suspension.  The adjustable front should have been on the 23 and 24 CVO's not just the ST.  The mounting for the rear remote reservoirs looks like it prohibits installing the 4 point docking hardware.

I do really like the new head unit and the VVT engine..

Relocation brackets coming in the 2nd qtr for those rear canisters. There's something in the P&A book about that.

Of course. I believe the whole intent of the ST models this year though were to be a bar hopper/"performance" bagger taking after the races that have been going on the last few years. It'll be interesting to see if Polaris wants to put something out to compete against market share.

You are correct.  The ST was molded after the King of Baggers race bikes.  It's being marketed as a performance bagger, even the promo for it shows them ridding it hooligan style.  Red line is 5900 RPM, peak torque comes on latter than the other CVO's or M8 motors.  I have a feeling its not set up to cruise at 70 mph with where peak torque is, you want it around 3000 rpm for touring.

The MOCO made a statement about their bikes being more exclusive, they have done a good job of that this year. It is interesting about the different styles of the road glide for example.

I haven't seen them in person yet.

Went to look at the new CVO’s, local dealer did not have any in sight, lots of bikes on the floor and outside too.  :nixweiss:

Was a nice day for a ride, sunny 63*.

Looked at a copperhead CVO road glide, very nice  :2vrolijk_21: . Saw a white CVO st road glide, a gofast HD I reckon, not for me cause it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast. :drink:

I saw that Copperhead color on an SESG yesterday. Not for me. Nice color but just not interested. Unless you live where it's always sunny on your bike, the color is boring. JMO

I was checking out all the bikes and colors and all the touring limited bikes Batwing or Shark non CVO'S only have Black Motors and Black Front Forks ( Front Ends ) !!! That Sucks if your a Chrome guy like me !!!
Harley is really pushing all blacked out bikes !! most of us older guys still like chrome.
Very disappointed with that change. ( Maybe an up charge for chrome in the future  :o ?? )

I admit I was only at the dealership to look at the New Legendary Orange CVO Street Glide but,
I honestly didn't even notice it was a Copperhead CVO sitting next to it.
Did Not grab my attention. You can kinda see it in this picture

You are able to get black or chrome.  Black forks and exhaust and such is optional, and it costs more on non-cvo.

Chrome is still out there. They make an atlas green RG this year that is only available in chrome.

Yesterday was a beautiful east TN day, made it up to 65.  Was 49 when I left the house for a nice little 110 mile ride.  Stopped for a cold one and a cigar with a friend.  Was good to get on the bike.
