Guys; Does anybody have this problem. 2010 was purchased in August. Cleaned real well mid Sept. Checked yesterday and quite a film of black sooty buildup. Why so much. Help!!!

Perfectly normal, especially if you use your rear brake a lot. It's a combination of road grit and brake dust, with brake dust being the biggest contributor. I don't use my rear brake as much as I use my front brakes, so my rear wheel doesn't build up that fast, but it still builds up over time.

That be it... Many here have changed to the Lyndall Z+ Brake Pads which seem to have less dust and better stopping power.

When you have a non-CVO HD that has the standard Black/polished aluminum wheels, you don't notice the brake dust build up as much as you do when it dirties up those nice chrome wheels that CVOs have.

If you change to LRB pads the build-up will not be as bad. But how can you ride for 6 weeks without washing the bike? Amazing, I have hardly any dust but I wash bike weekly, use LRB pads and mainly the front brakes.
