2003 values in 2016
« on: March 09, 2016, 09:55:50 PM »

I was at the dealer yesterday asked about values and was told "those were over produced" his book showed values of $4,500 to $6,000. I was blown away by his response, then I looked around the show room and found numerous Deuces priced $9,000 and over this lead me to do a bit of research on the web tonight and found the following data

NADA Low retail $7,420
NADA Avg retail $9,760

KBB $9,290 trade-in value
KBB $12,625 suggested retail

So what say you as to the current value of your own 2003 CVO Deuce? Please also include how many miles.

Lastly, he commented about high mileage so I asked what is high mileage? Over 40k, but low mileage to a sales guy was less than 15k and in that respect, age did not matter.

I paid the KBB suggested retail a year ago for mine at the dealer.

You have to remember Asking Price and Selling Price are 2 different things.

The old saying "It's only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for it" is still true.

The Deuce is facing some issues. Very few or no new replacement parts. Despite it being a member of the Softail family it still has parts that are unique and almost impossible to find.

Going to the dealer to replace any of the CVO Painted or Chrome parts isn't going to happen.  This is especially true with the CVO's.

Yes, there are several Deuces on the Used Bike Sale sites at or near the retail prices you referred to. But they have been up there for quite awhile--many over a year now.

My sense is that a CVO Deuce low mileage in real good condition will SELL at around $9,000-$9,500.

Non CVO Deuces in the same condition, knock off $1,500--$2,000.

I really like the bike but please also consider in your thinking that it is over 13 years old.

Good luck.

So if I can ask, what did you spend?

I sold a 03 FXSTDSE CVO Deuce last fall for $12,500 and it was in mint condition with only 3,800 original miles. I received only a few calls on it because you can buy a much newer model HD for less money and it also hurts that the Deuce has been out of production since 2007.
