Leaking brakes
« on: July 27, 2015, 09:11:27 AM »

Anyone having a leaking brake problem. Found small puddle of fluid by my back tire this morning. Found oil on the bottom of my shock mount leaking either from the brake caliper or the shock itself.

Based on past experience, I'd bet on leaky shock before brakes.

Tdkkart, I guess you have had leaking shock problems.. What was the fix. Repair or replace. Looks more like shock oil.

Odds are about 99.9 to 1 the fluid is shock oil, not brake fluid.  Regardless, if you don't know for sure, and you don't want to do a taste test, get it to the shop to be checked out ASAP.  And btw, shock leaks aren't especially common, but neither are they rare.

I had 2 sets of shocks leak on my '01 Ultra Classic, ended up replacing them with Progressives. I repalced the factory shocks on both my '11 and 15 before they had a chance to start leaking.  I don't know of anyone that repairs the stock shocks.
