Actually looks like it was pulled down extra tight and that the clear moved.  I have seen similiar on a fairing  when the windshield bolts have been over tightened and it causes the clear to do that.

I had the same thought after seeing the photo...

When I have a bag mounting on the rack....I really don't like to open the lid all the way.  That's a lot of stress on the hinges and strap....never really considered what it might do to the lid and the rack attach points :'(

When you say pulled down do you mean tightened down too much? I have tightened other bolts too much before and the paint gets cracked around the area but I haven't seen it bulge like that.  Just curious what you8 have seen.

verbiage semantics, yes it was screwed in too tightly, couple that with maybe a little extra clear and something similar was the result for me on a fairing.

Wow that is a bummer!  I've done a lot of K's on mine with LOTS of weight on that rack and never had any sort of stress or marks in that area.  Never seen anything like it either.

While the rest of the crew may be in the same predicament, it's almost always the pilot's job to arrive at the crash site first.

When they apply too much paint without allowing proper drying time between coats, you can get what many call "soft paint".  When you tighten something against such a painted surface, the soft paint can still flow.  That appears to be exactly what we have here.  And there has been a history with CVO paint, from either of the vendors over the years, with "soft paint" issues.  It becomes exacerbated when they have flaws and have to repaint items, or when they try to speed up the process.
