2020 CVO opinion
« on: September 17, 2018, 10:40:51 AM »

I was just thinking that with the last 2 years the cvo streetglide has not been good in my opinion. Also, with only 3 cubic inches between the special and CVO now, how do they justify the price difference?  That being said I am really expecting a big improvement for 2020 CVO in both paint and and engine upgrade.

 :beatdeadhorse:

Every year someone posts optimistic predictions that "this will be the year we see new......"  whether it's motor, paint, suspension or more electronic bells and whistles etc. Then the photos come out and some say "worst colors yet" but once they arrive at dealership and members post photos of their bike, favorites come out and everyone relaxes.
As far as justifying the cost difference my guess is H-D is still trading on the myth of the early CVOs being hand built in a separate building (which hasn't been done since 2009)  v. just accessory parts on the standard assembly line. They kept the price up and people keep paying it because they just have to have the largest motor or limited paint and accessories. Good old supply and demand at work.
Of course we still have to see 2019 bikes, maybe 2020 could be different but I don't see much change until more of us Old Timers die off so so H-D isn't stuck on the 1936 air cooled v-twin design and it's limitations that old customers demand.

The 2020 Harleys will be different than the 19s to the extent that the advertisements will feature all the improvements made.  My guess is the 2020 Harleys will have perfect eyesight.

And after the 2020 rollout the buyers will say, "It's blind in one eye and can't see out of the other."  Moco will say....They all do tha..........nevermind.

I think I'd like to see the MoCo declare a moratorium on new models while they work (hire outside experts) to resolve the many long-standing issues that have plagued their bikes for the past decade (or at least since the RushedMore bikes came out).  Fix the current bikes, then start out with a clean sheet of paper going forward.  OR, just continue pumping out whatever it is they pump out these days and hope younger folks suddenly throw away their phones and video games while embracing overpriced low quality motorcycles instead.  They could also try to figure out how they can replace the huge profits they reaped from Boomers when they have to rely on sales of small bikes to the Indians and Chinese while trying to compete with Honda.
