Trade for new 18 cvo street glide?
« Reply #30 on: December 30, 2017, 02:38:47 PM »

are harley's overpriced?  probably.  but tell me what 'technologically' superior bike i can get, in the same class, for 1/2 the cost?
Compared to to a CVO , well let’s see the the new BMW 1600, The new Honda Goldwing, even not my favorite but the Yamaha new air cooled and the Indian. None cost 40k plus all in the 20k range.

For whatever its worth I rode the BMW and the Yamaha (intend on riding the Honda when I get a chance) and here 9s just my opinion- BMW is just a stripped down GTL and though it certainly has a great motor/performance, it still just doesn't "move me" in any way. If I was looking for a every day driver I would pick it in a heartbeat but thats not what I use a motorcycle for. Yamaha would be a great long distance touring machine as its very comfortable and plush. It does not have great performance and to me felt very sluggish and heavy. I think it will go head to head with the Honda but again long distance is not what I use a motorcycle for.
absolutely no disrespect intended with any of this as it is just my opinion! I personally would love to find a new bike that is not a Harley (why I have been trying those as well as the new Moto Guzzi) but just keep coming back like "Pavlov's dog"..

Stop buying HD overpriced dinosaurs. Go get a more tech advanced bike for 1/2 the money.
I have other bikes but only one HD left in the stable.

So, what bike is 1/2 the price of a Street Gilde or road glide?  Not half price, intact costs more.  What bike is half the price of a Street glide Special or road glide special? About 2K more, but not half price. Lets move up to the 42K CVO road glide or CVO Limited.  Answer none.  Seems the BMW is over 24K or more, which is more than 1/2 price the CVO.  The Gold wing is 24K.  Indians for touring are 23K and up, again not half price.  Heck there version of CVO is 34K.

I am an Aprilia rider. The Guzzi is nice bike just don’t know if it is my cup of tea. To its defense, I have not looked at it up close nor rode it. The Honda without the Tour Pack has my attention.

for the heck of it i looked on cycle trader and the BMWs dont seem to hold there value either... five year old bikes are going for 12k to 14k, and the 18s are selling at 28k + to 30k. my point, used TOYS aint worth much  :nixweiss:

Well I ended up trading my 2011 cvo street glide for the 2018 cvo street glide yesterday. I was able to get $20k trade and paid msrp for the 18. I financed 21,500 and the only accessories I got so far was the Vance and Hines full system with x pipe and tuner. My wife wants the tourpak because I had it on my 2011 that dam thing is like $2800 with everything you need wow! Anyways just wanted to give you guys the update! I feel like $20k was decent for my 2011... they let me keep the tour pak and my other accessories... happy new year everyone

If you can’t get MSRP @Santa Fe or Duke City go to Four Corners in Farmington or Durango HD for MSRP pricing.

At Duke City see Mike Buckingham and mention my name , Simon Clement.

Lat weekend I was at 2 dealers in So Cal. Palm Springs had a CVO RG in grey for MSRP plus the stupid "setup fee" which when I gave them crap about it they said they would remove it I wanted it that day but I told them I was just there for a battery in my fob. They were out of the batteries so I rode to El Cajon Harley (in San Diego) and they had a CVO SG in black with the red trim and they were asking 8K over (what I meant to say). This dealer always does this. They are actually the closest dealer to my house and buying a battery for my fob is about all my business I will ever give them!
When I bought my 12 they were the only dealer in CA that had it in stock and that wanted 6K over for it back then and told me if I didn't want to pay them I would have to go to either OR or VA to get one, I texted every dealer in both of those states that night and the dealer in Bend OR responded that they had it. Did the deal with them (Bend) the next day.. 6 months later my brother in law bought his CVO there and last year I bought my SG there.
I guess I owe El Cajon for kinda telling me where the bike was.
I service my bike at Biggs Harley (great dealer!) that is about 60 miles from my house and pretty sure Biggs has made more than the 6K over El Cajon wanted to charge me in 2012 over the years servicing my bikes...
Sorry for the ramble
