Was walking the dogs in the neighborhood this morning. Passed a garage sale 6-8 blocks away and wandered though. The Travel Gods were with me on this walk as the guy had a box of bike parts. Old bike parts.
I scored two pieces.
While not a big deal I've always thought the old round air cleaners were slightly out of proportion. Slightly too large for the environment they have to inhabit. Plus the FXR2 emblem is unobtanium. So if something happens or the covers goes its own way going down the road someday I'm screwed.
So the original (this one) is now safely boxed and stored:

And this old Evo era smaller diameter "Screamin' Eagle" cover is now installed. I always liked this little thing. Some part of a $22 purchase at the garage sale :2vrolijk_21:.

Better look.

And..... The FXR3 bikes got chrome top and bottom trees. Not the FXR2 (for some dumb reason). In the same box was a top tree. It's not in bad shape either. Was wanting an excuse to change the handlebar bushings. New bushings were already here too. So this came off:
-
And a shiny bit went on.

From the left or the right it's still shinier.

22 bucks and a walk in the neighborhood. First time in my life I bought something at a garage sale.

Nice finds Don!

Thank you Jim. Have to admit I was really pleased with myself carrying the parts home in one hand and the dogs on leashes on the other. The lower tree not chrome I can live with too. It blends in down there. Plus most anything you find doesn't have the fork lock. Problem is now I really have run out of anything to do to any of the bikes. Corona-level-maintenance and service the last few weeks.
