Title: CarPlay has a new look
Post by: Phreakyz on October 09, 2019, 07:19:52 PM
So my phone took a new IOS upgrade and now my CarPlay has a new look!
My music now has album art that you can clearly see.   Anyone notice anything else that changed?

Don't you have to have an iPhone for that?

Sent from my boring Droid phone.

I like the CarPlay update.  I did not like CarPlay prior to this update.  Easier to navigate.  I do like when I tell CarPlay map were I want to go it understands me and finds it.  90% of the time the bike navigation does not understand me, or gets it wrong.

Both my truck and car have car play, have never used it, as it was not user friendly nor did I like the layout, Same with my 19 CVO.  That said I have been using CarPlay the last three days on the bike.  It is really a big improvement.  CarPlay maps understands what I tell it.  The infotainment navigation does not, unless I stop and type it in.  CarPlay gives distance to next turn, the bike does not.

The factory nav does have the advantage of being able to load preplanned routes.  So I will use both now depending on what I am doing.

Custom, pre-planned routes would be all I’d need for iOS maps to be perfect. Seems conspicuous by its absence, really, and I can’t really understand why they haven’t done it. It could be done so elegantly and intuitively, too. It’s a shame.

Anyone know why Android will not play with HD and offer Android Auto on my GTS system? Hate Apple and their restrictive nature. Maybe Android sees a losing battle offering their services to Harley. Wondering if anyone has the real answer.

I’m really liking the new CarPlay update..

I find myself leaving it on the view with the quick links, the map view, and the song that's playing most of the time - unless I am using Waze then I leave it focused on Waze full screen.
